Will Romney/Ryan Turn Nasty for the Last Seven Weeks?

You can bet on that and win a lot of money of Vegas would give you odds.

Romney's "God" campaign yesterday was sickening and disgusting.  The Republican Party and Mitt Romney do NOT own "God" and to invoke the word "God" into a partisan campaign shows how desperate Romney has become to win.  To infer that Obama is anti-God and going to take God off the coins, out of the pledge, and the Government shows a very flawed man that should be no where near the Presidency.

The very nerve of Romney to use "God" in a political way goes against everything I have been taught.  When one of the Romney supporters, Gary Bauer said, "God doesn't want to be mentioned in the Democratic Party platform ," I lost it.

He’s going to campaign with at Robertson. He’s going to work “Obama-Is-Anti-God” motifs into his stump speech, as he did yesterday. He’s going to keep running with the lies about welfare. 

Does Romney want us to believe he is the only candidate who believes in "God?" I thought Romney couldn't get any more despicable then he was in the primaries, but he managed to do it yesterday.

If Tomasky is correct, which I believe he is, then Romney/Ryan are going to get worse.  We already know how low Romney can go from the primary when he went after fellow Republicans with lies and innuendos.  Already his attacks on President Obama have sunk to a new lows which seem to go lower almost on a daily basis.

The fact checkers on welfare have called Romney/Ryan ads completely false and on social security mostly false which also included some of the Obama/Biden comments as well, but the Romney/Ryan answer?  Ignore the fact checkers unless it is against their opponent and keep right on lying about welfare.  Fact Checkers have been used by both sides for years but now Republicans want to ignore them to keep spouting lies?  Is that how far the GOP has sunk today?

Now Ryan says he didn't vote for defense cuts which he did as part of the agreement that was reached to keep the Government from defaulting.  Just like Ryan criticizes Obama on not following Simpson Bowles when his vote is the one that killed it.  Guess you should figure out when a person lies about their times in a marathon, they will will lie about everything else.

Battleground States are going to see some of the nastiest ads every out of Romney and his Super PACs but I don't think they will work as we already saw what a nasty person Romney was in the primary in 2008 and worse in 2012.  IMHO Romney will say and do anything to get elected because he seems to believe the end justifies the means.  That is one reason even Republicans are pulling away from Romney and the Republican Party who have left a lot of us in the dust.

It felt good to join Republicans for Obama even though philosophically there are a lot of issues I  disagree with Democrats but frankly I agree with them more than the far right social conservatives and the neanderthal  GOP Platform.  The Democrats have taken over supporting our military, veterans, foreign policy, and many other issues that were Republican at one time like Civil Rights and One Man, One Vote.  Now Republicans want to suppress voting to elect Romney and don't mind saying that in public while tossing President GW Bush under the bus like he didn't exist. It is like there is a seismic shift going on between the parties -- don't recognize this Republican Party.

How about making Independents a political party?  At least there would be some common sense unlike what we are seeing out of the far right Republican Party that has been taken over by the Koch Brothers and Tea Party movement.

It is going to be a wild and nasty seven weeks with the Romney camp going after Obama with lies, mistruths, and innuendos to make the President look bad.  I don't think it is going to work because Romney and now his wife are not likable people as they are condescending and come across that they think they are better than everyone else.  We are supposed to trust them -- no details why -- just trust what they say to which I reply Bravo Sierra!  When your whole campaign is based on being anti against your opponent, your chance of winning is slim to none IMHO

Obama’s lead is growing, and Romney can’t seem to catch a break. If the trend continues, get ready for things to turn very ugly very fast. 

I don’t know if team Romney should be panicking just yet. Convention bounces have been known to fade; it’s not every week that Barack Obama is going to get Bill Clinton to give a barn-burner of a speech on his behalf that outdraws the NFL game on the other channel. In my view it’s not so much that the fundamental nature of the race has shifted as that it has solidified. Obama spent months being mostly just a little ahead, and now he’s a little more ahead than that. Lots of people have been writing in the last couple days about the larger Obama lead. But no one has yet turned attention to the consequences of that change: that Romney and Paul Ryan are likely to run the dirtiest campaign we’ve seen in a long, long time.

Go back in time a few months. The Romney theory, bruited by his aides and accepted by much of the media, was that all he had to do was talk about the economy and he’d win. There was no way an incumbent president sitting on these kinds of economic figures could possibly be reelected. Unemployed, underemployed, not even looking anymore, wrong direction … no question that they are all bleak figures. All Romney had to do was keep talking about them, and as they say in the East End, Robert’s your father’s brother. 

This job was supposed to get even easier when Romney tapped Paul Ryan for veep. Ryan was the man with the plan, the Republican Brain, the guy who actually knew budgets and fiscal policy, the Republican who could slice right through all the Democratic pettifoggery and actually beat the Democrats at their own game of talking all those numbers. Ryan’s presence on the ticket made the economic choice that much more stark, the argument went, and he’d win over the serious-minded moderates.

Well. It’s exactly one month after Ryan’s selection was announced, and his reputation has gone nowhere but down. He’s a liar and his famous “numbers” actually make no sense at all because they’re intentionally misleading. So now he looks less like a serious budget person than a drunken back-bencher who has to be elbowed awake to cast a vote. 

Then there are the past few days. We got a crappy jobs report Friday morning. Romney trotted out and said the kinds of things he was supposed to say. And lo and behold—it hasn’t hurt Obama a whit. In the days since the report—days, I should note, when media coverage has made it abundantly clear that the jobless rate fell only because more people quit looking for work—Obama has gained ground. 

So two facts are now clear. One, Romney is on the ropes. The memo from his pollster makes a few plausible points about why it’s too early to head for the exits. But Romney has some serious problems in some key states, notably Ohio. If he can’t win there, he basically has to win all of the following swing states to hit 273 electoral votes: Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, and New Hampshire. 

And the second fact that’s clear is that the economic argument is not working. Turns out that it’s not enough just to repeat the dour news when you keep dodging questions about your own plan. And taken together, these two facts mean: Romney isn’t going to desert the economic argument, of course, but he is going to try to win this thing in other ways.

As I’ve said many times, the ongoing debate about whether Romney is really conservative or really moderate has wasted lots of airtime and killed many innocent trees. He’s neither. He’s nothing. He’ll say or do whatever he needs to do, whatever the Koch brothers or whoever tell him to do. He’s been dreaming of the presidency since 1968, and as he sees it slipping through his fingers, he’ll be capable of anything. It’s going to be a nasty seven weeks.

Mark Levin: Romney has weakened the Republican Party

This is the understatement of the year.  Have never see a candidate in the primary as nasty as Mitt Romney toward candidates from his own party or is it his own party?  Many conservatives are beginning to wonder if he is relishing the carpet bombing of people he doesn't like who are conservatives with the smirk he gets on his face against other Republican candidates when he talks about negative campaigning.

He is running this primary like a Democrat primary -- Republicans don't act this way with carpet bombing, lies, and innuendos they know are not true.  They have dropped negative stories about candidates over and over again hoping their will stick.  Romney doesn't give people a reason to vote for him but a reason to vote against others witch is infuriating.  Must feel if the real Romney came out he wouldn't get the nomination so he attacks Republicans especially conservatives.  When Romney exits stage left after the general election, would he kindly take Karl Rove and that whole group of underhanded consultants with him.

On a side note I am more than disgusted with all the Mormon ads as well.  What church advertises all the time?  They are becoming extremely annoying acting like they are the only family values types.  This new campaign of theirs to help Romney is going to continue to hurt him as well but it couldn't happen to be a better person.  Looks like he decided the only way to win the nomination was to run an underhanded, dirty campaign which he has been successful but along the way he has left a lot of mad supporters of other candidates who will never check the block for the Massachusetts liberal.

You need to listen to Levin's comments at the Right Scoop as there are some Stupid Republicans now saying that the RNC needs to choose the candidates not the primaries.  The day they put that in place is the day I walk out of the Republican Primary for good -- I am inching that way now after this crooked election with all the debates orchestrated by the RNC until Romney didn't look so well and they all went away.  The powers at be cannot seem to be it through their heads and that includes Romney people that call in shows and post that their bullying tactics are not working.  Instead they have made a large group of us even more determined to never support Romney.  I don't support a liar and or a nasty campaigner and that is exactly who Romney has become.

Romney lends credibility to the charge he runs campaigns like a Democrat when he relishes being in more liberal states because he sure is not comfortable in conservative states or in more rural areas.  The Democrat stronghold of the cities seems to be Romney's forte as well..  If you want Cap and Trade, Carbon Tax, Higher Taxes on a Gallon of Gas, Global Warming as an Issue, EPA, or for starters ObamaCare, then you will love Mitt Romney who has supported all those except his is called RomneyCare not ObamaCare which he plans to implement in all states.  He even offered Obama to use RomneyCare as something to build on.  Someone tell me again why I would support Romney who took out Gov Perry with his dirty tricks.  The lists kept growing until we are down to three for him to attack except he never attacks Ron Paul -- he leaves his attacks to Gingrich and Santorum.

At the end of these remarks is a link to an audio of Mark Levin where a Romneybot calls in and makes a fool of himself. You will hear for yourself that they don't answer questions and bring up straw men in the conversation.  It is about Romney 24/7 and has turned off over 50% of the Republicans but they RNC types supporting Romney are convinced we will be with them in November.  Hope they are not betting the house on the outcome.

Mark Levin: Romney has weakened the Republican party with his carpet bombing

Assuming that Romney is going to become the nominee (because of his delegate lead), Levin wants to know how we bring the Republican party back together given that Romney is only getting 41% of the Republican vote. This low percentage is something that surprised Levin, something he didn’t know until he read Robert Stacy McCain’s piece at the American Spectator, Predictably Predictable. He also read from Roll Call’s Mitt Romney’s Weakness Is Also Strength — or Is It? in his first segment, both of those pieces you can read yourself.
But his point is that Romney’s massively negative carpet bombing campaign has weakened the Republican party by alienating many conservatives who are angry with his tactics. McCain quotes from the Washington Post: 

Romney’s super PAC has spent nearly $30 million on advertising, 91 percent of it on negative ads aimed at either Gingrich or Santorum. By some estimates, the Romney campaign is spending at a rate of more than $15 per vote, compared to less than $6 per vote for Santorum. 

Levin says that negative campaigning is apart of every primary, but he’s never seen it on this level. Romney has been using it to destroy his opponents instead of building himself up. This is worrisome because if Romney can’t pull the Republican Party back together, we may lose this election which would be devastating. That’s why Levin is asking how we fix this.

GOP Voters in Early States Embrace a Trump Presidential Bid

When I saw this article this morning, I started chuckling because that is what I am seeing from some unlikely people here in Oklahoma. Frankly a lot of Republicans are fed up with the inside the beltway elitists trying to give the nomination to someone because it is their time. When that nomination looks to be slipping away from people like Romney or other 2008 candidates, then the pundits come out of the woodwork attacking Donald Trump with some pretty nasty remarks. What do they all have in common? Could it be the fact that the ones with most of the negative comments are the most likely to support Mitt Romney?

All we know is that Donald Trump has upset the applecart inside the beltway -- we are enjoying every minute of it to watch Karl Rove, Krauthammer, and other pundits go over the edge in their remarks against Trump.  Normally you only see the pundits come out with their knives drawn when an opposing candidate is scoring points which looks to be what we are seeing here.  Don't know when I have laughed so hard at some of the asinine statements I am reading from the inside the beltway crowd.  The author of the article below had one of those himself:  "even as he perpetuates falsehoods about Obama's citizenship and questions the legitimacy of his presidency."  How does the author know that Obama was born in Hawaii when even the Governor of Hawaii has not seen a copy of his legitimate birth certificate.  The Obama birth certificate on line was a bad imitation.

Like so many other grassroots Republicans, am tired of candidates that are frankly pretty dull or don't have the qualifications that we would want in someone to be our President.  Was sitting here thinking about what it would take to get me to support a candidate in the Republican primary for President and came up with this bare bones list:

1. Backbone. Want a candidate who is not afraid to take on anyone and will do an interview with any and all. Selective interviews is not a plus. Have a hard time understanding why Trump asking for Obama to release his birth certificate and college records is so wrong. He keeps getting told to back off by some Republicans but why?

2. Executive Experience. Running a large business successfully and finding out you don't like to lose even on small matters is a major plus. A candidate needs to enter the race with the attitude that 'losing is not an option' because you can count on that candidate to give it their all. Where do you learn that trait -- in business and in sports which prepare you well for politics.

3. Knowledge of the economy and foreign affairs. Tired of soundbites as the solution to everything. Want someone who has had experience dealing with foreign countries not doing On the Job Training (OJT) which has not worked out with Obama. Lack of experience and knowledge has created a vacuum in leadership in the White House since Obama took over.

4. Do what is best for America. Too many candidates are looking to do what is best for them and their constituency not the whole country. They also get caught in the right versus left where one side is always right and the other always wrong. I want a President who understands once he gets in office, he represents all of us and doesn't throw it in people's faces "I Won" which demeans the Office of the Presidency.

5. Enthusiasm. Tired of lackluster candidates who are nice people but frankly are lousy campaigners. Want someone full of enthusiasm that makes me want to go out and work for their election. Dr. Coburn comes to mind first and foremost as an example of someone who got the grassroots fired up in Oklahoma, and we took it from there to send him to the Senate to bug the old stodgy ways of the Senate. Change is good!

6. Sense of Humor. That may be the best trait. A person who can laugh and have a good time is someone I want to support. Being serious all the time is a downer for me.

Those are just a few of what I would like to see in a candidate. More will follow in the days ahead as we start looking at the candidates. Today Donald Trump or 'The Donald' as many refer to him is out front in the media because he is considering running in the Republican primary. Finding it refreshing that he doesn't follow a script that some political consultant gave him but tells it like it is and lets the chips fall.

So happy to learn it is not only people around where I live and in several other areas who are giving Trump a real look but now we find the voters in early like states like what they see.  A lot of us are looking for someone to energize us and to be frank, most of our candidates to date before Trump were not candidates who were going to energize a large part of the voting public.  Some people forget that in order for a Republican to win, we have to be able to attract the independents and conservative Democrats to vote for our ticket in the general.  The conservative base seems to get it, but the elitists including the RNC members don't which speaks volumes.  Energizing people to work for your campaign seems to be overlooked by a lot of people but we learned in Oklahoma in 2004 how important that energize factor is to a candidate.


IMHO it is time for a different type of candidate for the GOP -- one who is not tied to 'it was always done this way' but is willing to be innovative with new ideas. That sounds like another item to add to the list.

President Barack Obama has launched his re-election bid in a low-key manner, but the Republican Party's search for a challenger seems stranger by the day.

GOP celebrities like Sarah Palin aren't getting much buzz. Mainstream candidates like Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty aren't getting much traction. It's people once considered highly unlikely to compete seriously for the party's nomination who are creating big stirs in early voting states, a reflection of an unformed and uncertain GOP presidential field.





Republican activists in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina appear deeply intrigued by, and open to, a run by Donald Trump, the publicity-loving business tycoon and host of NBC's "The Apprentice," even as he perpetuates falsehoods about Obama's citizenship and questions the legitimacy of his presidency.

"I hear more and more people talking about Donald Trump," said Glenn McCall, Republican Party chairman in South Carolina's York County. "He's got people fired up."

These Republican officials and activists stopped short of saying they see Trump as the eventual nominee. But they said their party is hungry for forceful, colorful figures to attack Obama and other Democrats on health care, spending and other issues.

An angry Barack Obama met with House Republicans today at their retreat in Baltimore and attacked them for voting against his very radical and failed plans for restructuring America. To their credit not one single House Republican voted for the gigantic Stimulus Bill, the record Omnibus Bill, and the Obama Son of Stimulus Bill. And, only 5 voted for the democrat’s business-busting cap-and-tax bill and only one voted for Obamacare. Today Obama let them know what he thought about their lack of support for his radical agenda.

NOTE: Less then 48 hours after the State of the Union he reprimanded members of the House Republican Caucus at their retreat. He was a guest speaker and he took the opportunity to attack Republicans who invited him ignoring any sense of trying to be bi-partisan. So much for his bi-partisan approach.

This video needs widespread distribution and used in the 2010 elections to show just how nasty Obama can be if you don't agree with him 100%.

Guess we can take from this encounter that Obama did not hear the voters of Masschusetts last week.
