"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men
from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

House Democrats Shut Out Republican Ideas on Healthcare - WHY?

Republicans have been shut out of offering ideas for Obamacare in the House but that has not stopped Republicans from coming up with some great ideas to help all Americans especially those who have trouble getting health insurance due to a precondition, changing jobs, or being laid off from a job and not being able to afford healthcare. You will not find an elected Republican that will not tell you that there is a problem with the healthcare especially the Medicare and VA programs along with the high cost of coverage.

The one item that could lower healthcare cost is Tort Reform. Democrats don't want to hear about Tort Reform since the trial attorneys donate the big bucks almost exclusively to Democrat candidates. This group of vultures have people at the Court House who are paid to give them names of people injured in auto accidents. They then contact the injured party and offer their services. It is a fact, as I was slightly injured when a person ran a stop sign and hit my car and within 24 hours, I had calls from two law firms that handle personal injury lawsuits.

When is the last time that you heard of Trial Attorneys donating to a Republican candidate for federal office? Just doesn't happen especially if it is a Republican conservative.

This morning I received an email from Cong Pete Sessions (R-TX), that dealt with healthcare and ideas which would help the healthcare system. These are good ideas that the American people could get behind BUT the Democrats in the House will not even look at any GOP ideas. Read what Congressman Sessions has to say and ask yourself why Speaker Pelosi refuses to even consider Republican ideas -- how much money is lining the pockets of Democrats in Congress to cause them to take this action?

From Cong Pete Sessions (R-TX) Email:

The Hill Report A Weekly Newsletter from Congressman Pete Sessions Week of August 17 – August 21, 2009

This week, I continued my work in North Texas, meeting with constituents and participating in the ongoing debate about the future of our health care. I’d like to share a few highlights from my week of health care discussions.

Congressional Dialogue with Eddie Bernice Johnson
On Monday, I joined my Dallas colleague, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX), for a civil but spirited discussion on health care solutions.

Held at the City Place Conference Center in Dallas, the forum included various panel and dialogue sessions and was sponsored by 16 private entities, including Curran Tomko Tarski LLP, SMU Cox School of Business, Deloitte, US Chamber of Commerce, and The Health Care Industry Council.

During the Congressional Dialogue, I outlined the need for reform, Republican solutions for affordable health care, and the problems with government-run health care.

Without question, health coverage is currently unaffordable for many families and small businesses. The need for reform is clear.

I support patient-centered full coverage that provides for pre-existing conditions, chronic disease management, and the creation of large and high-risk pools for coverage.

Second, I support total access in coverage. Patients should have ownership of flexible, competitive, and interoperable plans, and insurance should be portable from job to job and across state lines. And Congress must level the playing field by empowering individuals and small businesses with the same tax advantages that corporations have: the ability to purchase insurance with pre-tax dollars.

Third, more competition in the marketplace is essential in helping drive down the cost of care. Congress should remove barriers for health savings account benefits. Additionally, our health care system needs physician compensation reform to reflect accurately the cost of treating a patient.

Lastly, America must remain focused on innovation for a 21st Century health care system. Medical research must be a top priority, and Congress should provide incentives for Electronic Medical Record interoperability. Tort reform is also essential for reducing defensive medicine and freeing resources for more efficient and effective use.

These health care reform priorities highlight just a few of the steps that Congress and the American people should take to enact solutions for affordable health care.

As you know from previous newsletters, I do not believe that President Obama’s government-run health care plan is change Americans can afford. Rather, it will result in higher costs, fewer options, and interference in the patient/doctor relationship.

In the end, attendees of the Congressional Dialogue could see clearly that Congresswoman Johnson supports government-run health care and I do not. To learn more about our contrasting positions, read our opinion editorials published in the Dallas Morning News on Monday.

Obama To Hike 10-Year Deficit to $9 Trillion (Hope and Change?)

NOTE: Don't think when Obama voters swallowed his mantra "Hope and Change" this is what they were voting to see happen. What would the deficit be if OBAMACARE is passed or another stimulus. The first stimulus has had little impact except to increase the size of the deficit. Maybe next time voters might want to think twice before electing a person with ZERO executive or economic experience to the Office of President. Obama didn't even call meetings of the sub-committee he chaired in the US Senate as he was way to busy campaigning for President. No more community organizers as President EVER!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Obama administration will raise its 10-year budget deficit projection to roughly $9 trillion from $7.108 trillion in a report next week, a senior administration official told Reuters on Friday.

"The new forecasts are based on new data that reflect how severe the economic downturn was in the late fall of last year and the winter of this year," said the official, who is familiar with the plans.

"Our budget projections are now in line with the spring and summer projections that the Congressional Budget Office put out."

The CBO said in June that deficits between 2010 and 2019 would total $9.1 trillion. The official said the 2010-2019 cumulative deficit projection replaces the administration's previous estimate of $7.108 trillion.

President Obama released videotaped Ramadan wishes Friday, sending "best wishes to Muslims in America and around the world" and wishing them "Ramadan Kareem" on "behalf of the American people, including Muslim communities in all 50 states."

SNIP

The president makes sure to mention "my own Christian faith" and the values shared by Islam and Christianity when it comes to service, even as he speaks of Muslim ceremonies he knows well.

He also recapitulates his basic foreign policy positions involving Muslim nations. "We're also committed to keeping our responsibility to build a world that is more peaceful and secure. That's why we're responsibly ending the war in Iraq," he says, adding, "That is why we strongly and actively support a two-state solution that recognizes the rights of Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and security. That is also why America will always stand for the universal rights of all people."

"I want to reiterate my commitment to a new beginning between America and Muslims around the world," he continues, emphasizing his Cairo message of seeking common ground and that "an important part of this is listening."

SNIP

The president lays out collaborations with international health authorities to eradicate polio in Muslim-majority nations, and to mitigate H1N1 flu transmission risks during the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca by devout Muslims which this year will fall at the end of November.
"May God's peace be upon you," he concludes.

Translations of his Ramadan message are provided on the White House Web site in Arabic, Bengali, Dari, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Pashto, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish and Urdu.

NOTE: Obama ignores the National Day of Prayer service in DC but not Ramadan? What gives? For the National Day of Prayer he did a proclamation in private. See details:

President Obama is distancing himself from the National Day of Prayer by nixing a formal early morning service and not attending a large Catholic prayer breakfast the next morning.

All Mr. Obama will do for the National Day of Prayer, which is Thursday, is sign a proclamation honoring the day, which originated in 1952 when Congress set aside the first Thursday in May for the observance.

For the past eight years, President George W. Bush invited selected Christian and Jewish leaders to the White House East Room, where he typically would give a short speech and several leaders offered prayers. Click Here for Full Article from Washington Times

R&R for Bill and Hill (Target Area for Hurricane Bill)

New York Post
August 21, 2009
JENNIFER FERMINO

Looks like the country's top diplomat and her headline-grabbing hubby have reached a détente while on a romantic Bermuda vacation yesterday.

The laid-back Clintons looked like any other happily married couple outside the Cambridge Beaches resort, where they are staying for a brief vacation.

The getaway comes less than two weeks after a feisty Secretary of State Hillary, during a visit to the Congo, lashed out at a university student who she thought had asked her Bill's opinion on an international issue.

And on Tuesday, Hillary Clinton raised eyebrows when she skipped a meeting between President Obama and Bill Clinton regarding her husband's North Korea trip.

Meanwhile, the Clintons' cozy vacation might be dampened, coincidentally enough, by Hurricane Bill. The first major storm of the hurricane season appears ready to bypass Bermuda -- but it could still sock the idyllic island with torrential rains.

NOTE: Romantic vacation? That one is good for a laugh -- more like she is reading him the riot act about interferring in something that should have come from the State Department. Just more of a photo op but did notice she is leading him. How ironic that Hurricane Bill is coming their direction. Ash trays or lamps flying? Place your bet. Wonder why they didn't go to Martha's Vineyard this year with the Obama's?

What Ted Kennedy Wants (Flip Flopper)

The Wall Street Journal
REVIEW & OUTLOOK
AUGUST 21, 2009

What Ted Kennedy Wants

He's trying to change election rules—again.

Senator Ted Kennedy, who is gravely ill with brain cancer, has sent a letter to Massachusetts lawmakers requesting a change in the state law that determines how his Senate seat would be filled if it became vacant before his eighth full term ends in 2012. Current law mandates that a special election be held at least 145 days after the seat becomes available. Mr. Kennedy is concerned that such a delay could leave his fellow Democrats in the Senate one vote short of a filibuster-proof majority for months while a special election takes place. (Excerpt)

"I therefore am writing to urge you to work together to amend the law through the normal legislative process to provide for a temporary gubernatorial appointment until the special election occurs," writes the Senator.

What Mr. Kennedy doesn't volunteer is that he orchestrated the 2004 succession law revision that now requires a special election, and for similarly partisan reasons. John Kerry, the other Senator from the state, was running for President in 2004, and Mr. Kennedy wanted the law changed so the Republican Governor at the time, Mitt Romney, could not name Mr. Kerry's replacement. (excerpt)

Beacon Hill has long sported heavy Democratic majorities, so the state legislature has the votes to grant Mr. Kennedy's wish. But does it have the chutzpah? An election is the more democratic option. After witnessing recent attempts by incompetent Governors in Illinois and New York to fill Senate vacancies, Massachusetts voters may have soured on such appointments. Especially when Mr. Kennedy's motivation for changing the law is so obviously born of partisan interest, not principle.

NOTE: Rule of Law being tossed out by a Democrat Senator once again after he wanted the original change. Democrats in the House and Senate seem to want everything both ways. American public is finally waking up to their scams they have been pulling on electorate and are not happy. Now Obama wants the Senate to do the nuclear option on OBAMACARE since Kennedy cannot be there for the vote when the Democrats were all for the 60 votes mandatory to pass legislation like this when Republicans were in charge, but now they want to flip flop and change the rules to suit Obama.

Obama: GOP conspiracy out to kill health reform

Washington Times August 20, 2009 Joseph Curl

President Obama took to the conservative airwaves Thursday to charge that Republican leaders are engaged in a vast right-wing conspiracy to kill health care reform in order to repeat the 1994 mid-term takeover of Congress, which followed the defeat of President Clinton's reform plan.

"I think early on, a decision was made by the Republican leadership that said, 'Look, let's not give him a victory, maybe we can have a replay of 1993, '94, when Clinton came in, he failed on health care and then we won in the mid-term elections and we got the majority. And I think there are some folks who are taking a page out that playbook," the president said.

NOTE: This is one DUMB statement. Republicans do not have the votes to block anything in the House or Senate thanks to the lies of the Democrats in the last election with Blue Dogs pretending to all be conservative and that Republicans were the party of Corruption which it should have been the Democrat Party of corruption.

Media did a great job of selling the Obama/Dem spin BUT Americans are waking up and why the poll numbers for Obama and the Democrats in Congress have started to tank. What a whiney person to even say this is a conspiracy when Democrat votes are needed to stop this overreach by the Democrat Socialist in DC. The Democrats can pass this travesty with no Republican votes and Obama knows it very well.

Obama had no intention of reaching across the aisle as one of his first statements in a meeting with Republicans was "I WON!" What an arrogant man the media helped elect.

Pelosi: No bill without public option (Conrad: Senate won't pass bill with public option)

Politico, 8/20/09

Foreshadowing a House-Senate showdown, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday there is "no way" the House can pass a health care bill without a government-run insurance option.

Speaking at a news conference in San Francisco, Pelosi told reporters that a public option will "keep insurance companies honest."

“There’s no way I can pass a bill in the House of Representatives without a public option,” the California Democrat said, according to wire reports. "Unless someone comes up with a better idea, that's how we're going forth in the House."

Pelosi reportedly added: "If someone can come up with a better idea, let them put it on the table, we haven't heard that yet. ... So we're fighting very hard for the public option."

Obama on Thursday told liberal activists and a conservative talk show host that he continues to support a public option, but said it was only a piece of a broader health reform package and continues to signal that it's not a make-or-break issue for him.

Meantime, the Senate seems likely to drop the controversial plan from any bill it proposes. Sen. Kent Conrad (D-S.D.), a key negotiator on the Finance Committee, has emphatically said there aren't enough votes in the Senate to approve a bill with a government-run option.

"It's very clear that there are not the votes in the United States Senate for a public option," Conrad said Thursday on Fox Business Network.

Who will win this game of chicken?

NOTE: Pelosi and House Democrats don't care what the American people say since a majority of the people say no public option. Getting more obvious that a lot of Democrats do not represent their districts but believe they know what is best for everyone even when half of the 'everyone' oppose the OBAMACARE. Seniors are speaking out in large numbers against the bill but the House Democrats are not listening.

Now Obama wants the Senate to do the nuclear option on such an important bill that will only require 50 votes not 60. You have MA talking about going against their state law on how a Senator is replaced in order to make sure that Kennedy's replacement is appointed not elected. What is the rush to pass this OBAMACARE that the elected officials go against the will of the majority of Americans? What is in it for them should be the question everyone is asking?

The voters need to send any member of Congress or the Senate that does not vote for the will of their constituents to the Unemployment line in 2010. Every last member of the Democratic Socialist of America that occupies a seat in Congress/Senate needs defeated as well.

US jobless claims unexpectedly rise

Reuters 8/20/09

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The number of U.S. workers filing new claims for jobless benefits unexpectedly rose last week, a government report showed on Thursday, fanning worries of an anemic recovery from the worst recession in 70 years.

Initial claims for state unemployment insurance benefits rose 15,000 to a seasonally adjusted 576,000 in the week ended August 15 from 561,000 the prior week, the Labor Department said. Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast new claims slipping to 550,000 last week from a previously reported 558,000.

NOTE: Lou Dobbs in an article just posted asked where the jobs are and now we have the answer, there are no jobs as more people applied for unemployment then expected. Yet this Administration wants to take over Healthcare. What have they to show for the stimulus except for a huge addition to the national debt which has passed $1T (trillion) for the first time ever. Some voters in the Country decided to vote for someone with little to no experience because of the man's color which was stupid. The Presidency is not a place to do OJT (on the job training for those that don't know OJT). Media never bothered to investigate Obama but they spent hours and hours investigating Sarah Palin who was a Governor. Disgusting for the taxpayers of America to see what is unfolding by the Democratic Socialist of America who are in the halls of Congress with a sympathizer in the White House.

Lou Dobbs : Where are the jobs, Mr. President?

Hot Air
August 20, 2009
ED MORRISSEY

Notice that this segment from Lou Dobbs came last night, before today’s announcement that unemployment increased yet again last week. Dobbs has been the most skeptical CNN host of Hope and ChangeTM, but even with that in mind, this segment uses almost 5 minutes to hammer the White House on its broken promises on jobs and unemployment. That’s a pretty extraordinary scolding for CNN, and it suggests that the media may have reached its limit on ignoring the obvious:

Obama Loans Billions to Brazilian Oil Company Partly Owned By Dem’s Biggest Contributor

Flopping Aces ^ 08-19-09 Mike's America

And yet Dems block offshore oil production in the U.S. Two pieces of information here. Connect the dots:

1. The Obama Administration is offering billions in loans for oil drilling off the coast of Brazil.

2. George Soros, the Dems top money man has a huge financial stake in the offshore drilling company.

Obama Underwrites Offshore DrillingToo bad it's not in U.S. watersWall Street JournalAUGUST 18, 2009You read that headline correctly. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration is financing oil exploration off Brazil.

The U.S. is going to lend billions of dollars to Brazil's state-owned oil company, Petrobras, to finance exploration of the huge offshore discovery in Brazil's Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. Brazil's planning minister confirmed that White House National Security Adviser James Jones met this month with Brazilian officials to talk about the loan. The U.S. Export-Import Bank tells us it has issued a "preliminary commitment" letter to Petrobras in the amount of $2 billion and has discussed with Brazil the possibility of increasing that amount. Ex-Im Bank says it has not decided whether the money will come in the form of a direct loan or loan guarantees. Either way, this corporate foreign aid may strike some readers as odd, given that the U.S. Treasury seems desperate for cash and Petrobras is one of the largest corporations in the Americas.

But look on the bright side. If President Obama has embraced offshore drilling in Brazil, why not in the old U.S.A.? The land of the sorta free and the home of the heavily indebted has enormous offshore oil deposits, and last year ahead of the November elections, with gasoline at $4 a gallon, Congress let a ban on offshore drilling expire. And this:

Soros Hedge Fund Bought Petrobras Stake Worth $811 Million By Jeb Blount and Miles Weiss
Aug. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Billionaire investor George Soros bought an $811 million stake in Petroleo Brasileiro SA in the second quarter, making the Brazilian state-controlled oil company his investment fund's largest holding.

As of June 30, the stake in Petrobras, as the Rio de Janeiro-based oil producer is known, made up 22 percent of the $3.68 billion of stocks and American depositary receipts held by Soros Fund Management LLC, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. One Campaign Promise Obama Kept: Shower His Friends with Money

In 2008 Michelle Malkin penned a column in which she described the payoffs in store for George Soros and friends if Obama were elected. Funny how quickly Obama has been able to keep that promise.

George Soros stands to make hundreds of millions in profit from a loan by the U.S. to Petrobas for offshore drilling. Why is no one surprised? Perhaps as a thank you gesture, George Soros has been pouring millions of dollars of his ill-gotten gains into the Obama Hell Care racket.

(Excerpt) Read more at floppingaces.net ...

NOTE: So the truth is coming out that Soros is running this part of the Government. Obama supports drilling off shore in Brazil but not in America? Disgusting that Obama wants us to continue to rely on foreign oil thanks to George Soros, one of his mentors.
