"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men
from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

Sooner Spring Football's Annual Red/White Scrimmage

Brought to you from the home of the Oklahoma Sooners -- Norman, Oklahoma!

Coach Bob Stoops watching the scrimmage
Some people think Soonerfans are crazy when you are in an airport and hear Boomer answered by Sooner -- maybe we are with the large number of fans that turned out on this beautiful Saturday to watch the annual Red/White scrimmage game.  The winner -- the Red team led by Co-Offensive Coordinator Josh Heupel won the game and on Tuesday will be sitting down to a dinner of lobster and steak.  The White team will be eating hot dogs and beans.  No wonder there were such hard hits in the game.  They had a lot to play for in the way of food.  Any concerns about our defensive backfield after losing two starters to graduation were put aside today as that was one of the best defensive backfield displays at a Red/White game in a long time.

It was great to be back in Owen Field and see the Sooners take the field along with alumni who were back for the annual alumni flag football game.   One thing they could have done better was open more concession stands as the lines were long.  We are sure this crowd far exceeded expectations.

Walking on campus among some new buildings and some old ones makes you feel great to see what has been accomplished since President Boren took over.  Bet he is very happy he made the decision to become the OU President and leave the US Senate.  Know Soonerfans are extremely happy as he has made OU not only a place for sports but the rise in academics is second to none and go together as part of the complete experience at OU.

Enjoyed parking in the lot with parking meters outside the old book store knowing I didn't have to worry about a ticket.  Have had enough of those in the past.  This was one game where you met people at the game and not all of you had to get into one car to save $20 for parking.  Today parking on campus was FREE!

Looking forward to the opening of the regular season the first Saturday in September!
