The Obama administration late Wednesday withdrew a recommendation that school children who watch a video featuring President Obama next week write about how they might "help the president" as part of a classroom assignment.
The decision came after conservative critics attacked the plan by federal education officials that teachers supplement the speech with a special curriculum that was designed in concert with the White House.

Comments: If my children were still in school, they would be having a school holiday. Just who does Obama think he is to try and indoctrinate our children? He needs to stay out of the schools other then knowing he is the President. To try and make him and his socialist agenda part of the curriculum is beyond WRONG. U.S. Stocks Retreat on Concern Economic Recovery Is Struggling

Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks fell for a fourth day, the longest losing streak for the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index since May, as reports on job losses and factory orders spurred concern that the economy is struggling to recover.
Walt Disney Co. and General Electric Co. slid 1 percent as ADP Employer Services said employers cut 298,000 jobs in August, while growth in factory orders trailed forecasts. Bank shares slid and Treasuries gained, sending 10-year note yields to the lowest level in more than seven weeks, after the Federal Reserve expressed “considerable uncertainty” about the strength of the economic recovery. Gold rose the most since March.
The S&P 500 slipped 0.3 percent to 994.75 at 4:04 p.m. in New York and has tumbled 3.3 percent so far this week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 29.93 points, or 0.3 percent, to 9,280.67. The MSCI World Index of 23 developed countries slid 0.7 percent.
“Everything is not rosy right now,” said Jason Cooper, who manages $2.5 billion at 1st Source Investment Advisors in South Bend, Indiana. “Given the gains we’ve had in the past few months, people are skittish about whether it’s sustainable.”

Last month there was much criticism over the fact that President Obama agreed to give Brazilian Owned Oil Company Petrobras up to $10 Billion Dollars to look for Oil off the Brazil Coast. This was especially disturbing when you consider that they Administration objects to the US Drilling off its own coast, which will work toward keeping the price of oil low and help wean us off foreign oil.
Why would the POTUS pay for a foreign country to drill for oil but object to his own country taking advantage of his own country's resources? Payback.
Last week Hot Air discovered that "coincidentally" just a few days before the announcement of the US Oil Exploration Aid, Friend of Barack, George Soros, set himself up to make a lot more money from Brazilian Oil Exploration..
NICE! Making money on the spread, and putting himself in a position to make more money from higher dividends just before all the big bucks "donation" from President Obama. Soros must be master of the deal or Obama is the master of the quid quo pro.

President Obama's White House does not exactly have a stellar record when it comes to personal information and the Internet. In less than one month, the president's new media team has come under fire for asking citizens to report "fishy e-mails" about Obama's health care reform plan and for e-mail messages from David Axelrod that somehow went to people who did not sign up for them.
So when the Executive Office of the President seeks a contractor to archive the usernames and possibly other data from social network users, it is certainly worth asking them why. We did. We have not heard back from the White House yet.
The National Legal and Policy Center's Ken Boehm has written today on EOP's 51-page contract solicitation for a web archiving service. Among other things, the solicitation notes that the White House is already archiving the content of seven social networking sites where it "maintains a presence." The contractor's purpose is to comply with the Presidential Records Act by saving White House postings to Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, Twitter, slideshare, Vimeo and YouTube.
But the solicitation also specifically includes archiving all messages sent to the White House accounts, and comments posted by users on those social networking pages. "Out of an abundance of caution," the document states, "we are treating comments made by non-PRA personnel on sites on which a PRA component has a presence as presidential records, requiring them to be captured or sampled."
The release of some of the data gathered -- to a future presidential library, or for any other purpose -- could run afoul of the Privacy Act. And the White House seems to leave itself a lot of room with respect to possible uses of the social networking data it stores. For example, will critical comments on EOP's wall secretly land Facebook users on a blacklist? Will other users begin receiving unsolicited messages, or even requests to sign up for Facebook applications?
If not for the events of August, it probably wouldn't even be an issue.
COMMENT: What kind of a blacklist is this Administration running? Where is the MSM on this invasion of privacy? Where is Congress? Crickets chirping once again. When Republicans speak out, you usually find it in local papers. Like a blackout on Republican members of Congress by the inside the beltway crowd except for a few. Wonder if this Administration has ever heard of the Privacy Act the way they act or Democrat leaders of Congress?

Obama FCC official sympathized with Venezuela's Chavez on media control

Obama official Mark Lloyd, the new Associate General Counsel and Chief Diversity Officer of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), has been openly critical of private media companies in Venezuela, where Lloyd believes that Marxist ruler Hugo Chavez is trying to implement a popular democracy.
Lloyd, who worked as a broadcast journalist at NBC and CNN, has come under fire from Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck and Seton Motley of the Media Research Center for his stance.
At the FCC, Lloyd is in a position to try to influence and control media content by making statements and issuing directives on media “diversity” and fairness.

Comments: When is this going to stop? Now we have someone who heads the FCC that wants to emulate Chavez and doesn't like private media companies? Lloyd was media "diversity" and fairness. Excuse me but the broadcast media except for Fox is far left so what diversity? Does he want 100% for Obama and his agenda including lies the media tells along with spin, spin, spin. We have 16.66% of the media (Fox) who are fair and balanced and give us facts not spin and he opposes that?
Someone needs to tell this Administration that this is America which is a Republic not a dictatorship. Wonder how many people that voted for Obama now are not happy with his hope and change taking America toward socialism and his being a dictator like his hero Chavez? They voted for someone who said that was going to be bi-partisan and have a transparent Administration but that has not happened from the "I Won" President. There has not been a lot of coverage of this. It happened back in July and is only now winding its way through the federal system.
Barack Obama and his administration are about to significantly drive up the costs of federal building construction. This is an astonishing reach. The Office of Management and Budget has directed that any federal construction over $25 million benefit unions.
The order would make all federal construction projects 10-20% more expensive by requiring all contractors to either use union workers or apply inefficient union apprenticeship and work rules to their employees. Contractors would also be required to make contributions to union pension funds and other union programs that non-union workers will never benefit from.
This will hugely drive up the cost of construction of federal buildings and line the pockets of unions without even having union workers involved in the projects. The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that only 15.6% of private construction workers in America belong to unions. In other words, 8 out of 10 construction workers in America will be legally denied the right to work on federal building projects.
This is appalling.
Great news in the midst of a recession, right?
COMMENTS: Why is this not all over the news? Union thugs back in charge in this Country? The unions had their purpose when workers were expected to work long hours in unsafe conditions but what is their purpose today? They spend more time organizing for Obama and supporting Obamacare especially the SEIU then anyone. What gives? Are they being paid with stimulus money to do Obama's bidding? Soros money being the SEIU? So many questions that the media never asks but bloggers ask daily.

WASHINGTON — Seven months after taking office, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. is reshaping the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division by pushing it back into some of the most important areas of American political life, including voting rights, housing, employment, bank lending practices and redistricting after the 2010 census.
As part of this shift, the Obama administration is planning a major revival of high-impact civil rights enforcement against policies, in areas ranging from housing to hiring, where statistics show that minorities fare disproportionately poorly. President George W. Bush’s appointees had discouraged such tactics, preferring to focus on individual cases in which there is evidence of intentional discrimination.
To bolster a unit that has been battered by heavy turnover and a scandal over politically tinged hiring under the Bush administration, the Obama White House has also proposed a hiring spree that would swell the ranks of several hundred civil rights lawyers with more than 50 additional lawyers, a significant increase for a relatively small but powerful division of the government.
The division is “getting back to doing what it has traditionally done,” Mr. Holder said in an interview. “But it’s really only a start. I think the wounds that were inflicted on this division were deep, and it will take some time for them to fully heal.”
Few agencies are more engaged in the nation’s social and cultural debates than the Civil Rights Division, which was founded in 1957 to enforce anti-discrimination laws.
The division has been at the center of a number of controversies over the decades, serving as a proxy for disputes between liberals and conservatives in matters like school busing and affirmative action. When the Nixon administration took office, it sought to delay school desegregation plans reached under former President Lyndon B. Johnson. The Reagan administration dropped the division’s policy of opposing tax-exempt status for racially discriminatory private schools. And former President Bill Clinton withdrew his first nominee to lead the division, Lani Guinier, after her writings about racial quotas were criticized.

Does this mean we are going back to a quota system so industries are required to hire so many minorities whether they are qualified or not. If Martin Luther King were alive today, he wouldn't believe what is happening. This Administration is setting civil rights back years with their favoritism and special privileges instead of expecting all races to work and earn their own way in life. As for voting rights, white precincts don't vote over 100% of their residents. This is an outrage that he wants to grow the DOJ in a time of cut-backs in private industry. Just what the Government doesn't need -- more lawyers.

This is a speech delivered by White House Green Jobs "Czar" Anthony K. (Van) Jones in Berkeley before a very leftist activist/student group, a few weeks after Obama was inaugurated.
A relatively high-quality, recent, clear video of VAN JONES, with somewhat damaging public comments during this talk he made which could be part of the rope to hang his senior White House job.
In this speech and presentation, Van Jones uses words such as "Comrades", "Maoists", discusses his strategy now that the White House has been seized how "Green Jobs" will be the initial beachhead by which to completely defeat the "status quo" with this revolutionary "new democracy", to further not only environmental issues but a variety of other political causes in the USA, and what the Radical Left can now do as they have "seized power" with Barack Obama, about how vulnerable "people are out of jobs" and this creates a receptive atmosphere to their words, discussing his own self being tear-gassed in Seattle for street violence at WTO, etc. etc. etc.
I will say that he is rather eloquent (talks without notes, and mildly comical as in a stand up comedian sense), a very slick Socialist/Communist--but also arrogant and talking down to people. He mocked capitalism, he cracked an anti-police joke--in the vein of President Obama who sounded off his mouth recently on Harvard police w/out the facts--to the guffaws of the far leftist crowd. He also articulated how to use the post-election Barack Obama nationwide organization of 13 million to, online and otherwise, make life miserable for targeted conservative Senators. IMHO, this video will probably help usher in this man's removal from government. Mr. Jones' little comedic onstage dance while he indicated how the American people should be subtly indoctrinated to go along with this radical left-turn business was classic and most informative.

Comments: WHY are the members of the US Senate not shouting about having a Communist Czar in our Government at the top of our lungs. Is the healthcare front and center to hide the fact there are now 44 Czars at $182,000 with ten employees each? Where is that money coming from and why do we have 44 Czars when we have Cabinet Secretaries? When is the MSM going to start investigating and get off their kneepads for Obama.
We have a few in the WH Press Corps who are not afraid to ask questions, Jack Tapper, Chip Reid, and Helen Thomas (sometimes) but what about the rest. The press secretary Gibbs spins and laughs but very seldom will answer a question straight out. He makes Scott McClellan look good which no one thought was possible.

This is a speech delivered by White House Green Jobs "Czar" Anthony K. (Van) Jones in Berkeley before a very leftist activist/student group, a few weeks after Obama was inaugurated.
A relatively high-quality, recent, clear video of VAN JONES, with somewhat damaging public comments during this talk he made which could be part of the rope to hang his senior White House job.
In this speech and presentation, Van Jones uses words such as "Comrades", "Maoists", discusses his strategy now that the White House has been seized how "Green Jobs" will be the initial beachhead by which to completely defeat the "status quo" with this revolutionary "new democracy", to further not only environmental issues but a variety of other political causes in the USA, and what the Radical Left can now do as they have "seized power" with Barack Obama, about how vulnerable "people are out of jobs" and this creates a receptive atmosphere to their words, discussing his own self being tear-gassed in Seattle for street violence at WTO, etc. etc. etc.
I will say that he is rather eloquent (talks without notes, and mildly comical as in a stand up comedian sense), a very slick Socialist/Communist--but also arrogant and talking down to people.
