Will Romney/Ryan Turn Nasty for the Last Seven Weeks?

You can bet on that and win a lot of money of Vegas would give you odds.

Romney's "God" campaign yesterday was sickening and disgusting.  The Republican Party and Mitt Romney do NOT own "God" and to invoke the word "God" into a partisan campaign shows how desperate Romney has become to win.  To infer that Obama is anti-God and going to take God off the coins, out of the pledge, and the Government shows a very flawed man that should be no where near the Presidency.

The very nerve of Romney to use "God" in a political way goes against everything I have been taught.  When one of the Romney supporters, Gary Bauer said, "God doesn't want to be mentioned in the Democratic Party platform ," I lost it.

He’s going to campaign with at Robertson. He’s going to work “Obama-Is-Anti-God” motifs into his stump speech, as he did yesterday. He’s going to keep running with the lies about welfare. 

Does Romney want us to believe he is the only candidate who believes in "God?" I thought Romney couldn't get any more despicable then he was in the primaries, but he managed to do it yesterday.

If Tomasky is correct, which I believe he is, then Romney/Ryan are going to get worse.  We already know how low Romney can go from the primary when he went after fellow Republicans with lies and innuendos.  Already his attacks on President Obama have sunk to a new lows which seem to go lower almost on a daily basis.

The fact checkers on welfare have called Romney/Ryan ads completely false and on social security mostly false which also included some of the Obama/Biden comments as well, but the Romney/Ryan answer?  Ignore the fact checkers unless it is against their opponent and keep right on lying about welfare.  Fact Checkers have been used by both sides for years but now Republicans want to ignore them to keep spouting lies?  Is that how far the GOP has sunk today?

Now Ryan says he didn't vote for defense cuts which he did as part of the agreement that was reached to keep the Government from defaulting.  Just like Ryan criticizes Obama on not following Simpson Bowles when his vote is the one that killed it.  Guess you should figure out when a person lies about their times in a marathon, they will will lie about everything else.

Battleground States are going to see some of the nastiest ads every out of Romney and his Super PACs but I don't think they will work as we already saw what a nasty person Romney was in the primary in 2008 and worse in 2012.  IMHO Romney will say and do anything to get elected because he seems to believe the end justifies the means.  That is one reason even Republicans are pulling away from Romney and the Republican Party who have left a lot of us in the dust.

It felt good to join Republicans for Obama even though philosophically there are a lot of issues I  disagree with Democrats but frankly I agree with them more than the far right social conservatives and the neanderthal  GOP Platform.  The Democrats have taken over supporting our military, veterans, foreign policy, and many other issues that were Republican at one time like Civil Rights and One Man, One Vote.  Now Republicans want to suppress voting to elect Romney and don't mind saying that in public while tossing President GW Bush under the bus like he didn't exist. It is like there is a seismic shift going on between the parties -- don't recognize this Republican Party.

How about making Independents a political party?  At least there would be some common sense unlike what we are seeing out of the far right Republican Party that has been taken over by the Koch Brothers and Tea Party movement.

It is going to be a wild and nasty seven weeks with the Romney camp going after Obama with lies, mistruths, and innuendos to make the President look bad.  I don't think it is going to work because Romney and now his wife are not likable people as they are condescending and come across that they think they are better than everyone else.  We are supposed to trust them -- no details why -- just trust what they say to which I reply Bravo Sierra!  When your whole campaign is based on being anti against your opponent, your chance of winning is slim to none IMHO

Obama’s lead is growing, and Romney can’t seem to catch a break. If the trend continues, get ready for things to turn very ugly very fast. 

I don’t know if team Romney should be panicking just yet. Convention bounces have been known to fade; it’s not every week that Barack Obama is going to get Bill Clinton to give a barn-burner of a speech on his behalf that outdraws the NFL game on the other channel. In my view it’s not so much that the fundamental nature of the race has shifted as that it has solidified. Obama spent months being mostly just a little ahead, and now he’s a little more ahead than that. Lots of people have been writing in the last couple days about the larger Obama lead. But no one has yet turned attention to the consequences of that change: that Romney and Paul Ryan are likely to run the dirtiest campaign we’ve seen in a long, long time.

Go back in time a few months. The Romney theory, bruited by his aides and accepted by much of the media, was that all he had to do was talk about the economy and he’d win. There was no way an incumbent president sitting on these kinds of economic figures could possibly be reelected. Unemployed, underemployed, not even looking anymore, wrong direction … no question that they are all bleak figures. All Romney had to do was keep talking about them, and as they say in the East End, Robert’s your father’s brother. 

This job was supposed to get even easier when Romney tapped Paul Ryan for veep. Ryan was the man with the plan, the Republican Brain, the guy who actually knew budgets and fiscal policy, the Republican who could slice right through all the Democratic pettifoggery and actually beat the Democrats at their own game of talking all those numbers. Ryan’s presence on the ticket made the economic choice that much more stark, the argument went, and he’d win over the serious-minded moderates.

Well. It’s exactly one month after Ryan’s selection was announced, and his reputation has gone nowhere but down. He’s a liar and his famous “numbers” actually make no sense at all because they’re intentionally misleading. So now he looks less like a serious budget person than a drunken back-bencher who has to be elbowed awake to cast a vote. 

Then there are the past few days. We got a crappy jobs report Friday morning. Romney trotted out and said the kinds of things he was supposed to say. And lo and behold—it hasn’t hurt Obama a whit. In the days since the report—days, I should note, when media coverage has made it abundantly clear that the jobless rate fell only because more people quit looking for work—Obama has gained ground. 

So two facts are now clear. One, Romney is on the ropes. The memo from his pollster makes a few plausible points about why it’s too early to head for the exits. But Romney has some serious problems in some key states, notably Ohio. If he can’t win there, he basically has to win all of the following swing states to hit 273 electoral votes: Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, and New Hampshire. 

And the second fact that’s clear is that the economic argument is not working. Turns out that it’s not enough just to repeat the dour news when you keep dodging questions about your own plan. And taken together, these two facts mean: Romney isn’t going to desert the economic argument, of course, but he is going to try to win this thing in other ways.

As I’ve said many times, the ongoing debate about whether Romney is really conservative or really moderate has wasted lots of airtime and killed many innocent trees. He’s neither. He’s nothing. He’ll say or do whatever he needs to do, whatever the Koch brothers or whoever tell him to do. He’s been dreaming of the presidency since 1968, and as he sees it slipping through his fingers, he’ll be capable of anything. It’s going to be a nasty seven weeks.

Blue Dog Democrats Headed for Extinction?

When I read last night that Almire and Holden had lost their Democrat primaries in PA, figured the days of the Blue Dogs were going away rapidly.  What this means is that the House becomes more polarizing and less about working together to get things done for the American people.

Living in Oklahoma, home of Congressman Dan Boren who is retiring at the end of this session, we observed up close what it is like to have a Blue Dog Democrat.  When it comes to Defense, he has always been there for our military and has represented our bases well.  He was a voice of reason on the Democrat side with his fellow Blue Dogs but Pelosi didn't see it that way so she set out to destroy the Blue Dog coalition and get more liberal Democrats in the House.  Now you have the Republican Establishment trying to get more moderate/liberal members of Congress instead of Conservatives.  That leaves both parties trying to kick out more conservative members.  Why?

It is getting more obvious that some establishment types don't want smaller government and prefer to have a government that does all.  In the process, we get a ruling class of politicians who only care about themselves and getting richer.  Is that where we are headed today?  Both parties need a reality check that a lot voters on both sides of the aisle are not happy with our choices for President and how Congress is performing.  Now we are also seeing Blue Dogs retiring or defeated in their own primaries.  It is shocking when you see the figures:

Only two short years ago, the Blue Dog Coalition numbered 54 as Democrats controlled the House. But they were decimated by the 2010 elections, as many of the GOP victories came at the expense of moderate Democrats who had previously held those swing districts. 

By the swearing-in of the 112th Congress, the Blue Dogs' numbers had been cut in half. Now, they are flirting with slipping into the teens.

The polling across America when it comes to Congress as a whole shows a very low opinion of how Congress is doing.  It is ridiculous how little really gets done.  All talk and no show which is probably a good thing as they are not spending more money.  There seem to be a lot of members who forget they work for the people and need to do what is best for their constitutions no matter the party which is lost on a lot of them.  Now with the Blue Dogs heading for extinction, the voice of common sense is going to be even less which is not a good thing.

Looks like the establishment of both sides are flexing their muscle using big donors on the GOP side and unions on the Democrat side to oust members they don't like and protect their fair haired members who when they say "jump," they jump.

What will the 113th Congress look like?  Too early to tell but on the Democrat side it is definitely going to become more liberal.

The Blue Dogs' bark in Congress is sounding more and more like a whimper. 

The once-powerful coalition of conservative Democrats suffered two more casualties on Tuesday as Rep. Jason Altmire, D-Pa., lost to fellow Democratic Rep. Mark Critz, and Rep. Tim Holden, D-Pa., was ousted by political newcomer Matt Cartwright. 

Congressional elections are just underway in 2012 but the Blue Dog losses are already starting to pile up, as several senior members have opted to retire, others face more challenging districts and those who've confronted the voters -- Altmire and Holden -- have been involuntarily sent packing.

The losses of Altmire and Holden highlight the electoral predicament Blue Dogs are in: They are vulnerable to challenges from both ends of the political spectrum. 

Holden, a ten-term congressman, had successfully fended off GOP challengers for years. But Pennsylvania mapmakers redrew his district to be more Democratic and he lost to a more liberal challenger. Similarly, labor unions propelled Critz past the more moderate Altmire, who voted against President Obama's health care law. 

"Redistricting and a broken, polarized Congress have made it tough to be a moderate in Congress," said Arkansas Rep. Mike Ross, a Blue Dog leader, in a statement after the Pennsylvania results. "The Blue Dogs are in the middle, and we're used to being attacked from both sides." 

The group's PAC has endorsed eight new candidates, but it is not just rank-and-file Blue Dogs that are departing this year - it's the group's leadership. Three of the four official leaders, Ross and Reps. Heath Shuler, D-N.C., and Dan Boren, D-Okla., have already opted to retire. And the fourth, Rep. John Barrow, D-Ga., is a top target of congressional Republicans. During the Masters golf tournament, which is in Barrow's district, House Republicans ran ads trying to link Barrow and Obama, buying golf-themed ads and billboards. 

Republicans used redistricting to remap Blue Dogs across the country into less favorable terrain. In North Carolina, two Blue Dog congressmen, Larry Kissell and Mike McIntyre, are atop the GOP target list after being put into more GOP heavy seats. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has already reserved more than $2 million in television time to hold those seats. In Utah, the state's lone Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson must campaign in new terrain to keep his job.

GOP lawmakers mark 1,000 days since last Senate budget

Looks like the Senate Democrats have a different version of what a budget entails then the rest of us:

The Senate Budget Committee, chaired by Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), released an analysis asserting that the deal reached in August to raise the debt ceiling was, for all intents and purposes, a budget.

That is not how budgets are supposed to work in the Senate but when you have nothing else to hang your hat on, guess you will grab onto to anything.  Why didn't the Senate consider the budget bill from the House they passed in April 2011?  What happened to the Obama budget for FY 12?  It seems like all this Administration and Democrat Senate want to do is pass continuing resolutions so the agencies/departments can be funded at the same rate.  Guess the Democrats are afraid to make actual cuts preferring to spin their actions.

How long will it take the Senate to do a budget for FY13 that begins October 1st, 2012, or is this going to be the case they don't have enough time since it is an election year?  The American people need to tell the Democrats in the Senate to do a budget this time or get out of the Senate.  Head of the Budget Committee Conrad is retiring so maybe he is providing the Democrat rhetoric knowing full well he couldn't get reelected so he retires.   North Dakota should be a pickup for Republicans in the Senate.  It would put us closer to taking back the Senate and actually doing a yearly budget.

One Thousand Days without a 'real' Senate budget and the Democrats don't seem to see a problem.  Bet they would if it was reversed and Republicans had not done a budget.  Voters need to look at the House where they passed a budget in April, but the Senate refused to hear or vote on the House budget.  It is important to realize the House Budget Committee  Republicans are doing their job and need reelected.

Cannot believe it is time for another State of the Union by the President with all the rhetoric included in his teleprompter speeches.  How is Obama going to spin the Keystone Pipeline decision not to build that even Democrats in Middle America don't understand or will he ignore as it doesn't fit his agenda?  Cannot remember the last State of the Union I watched -- probably in 2005.  I prefer to read the speech and the fact checking.   Tomorrow, we will report on the reaction by people who do watch the Obama State of the Union.

GOP lawmakers mark 1,000 days since last Senate budget

Senate Republicans slammed their Democratic colleagues on Tuesday for not passing a budget in exactly 1,000 days, accusing Democrats of shirking their duty in a period of soaring deficits.

Four senators at a Tuesday news conference said President Obama should be more of a leader on reining in deficits. GOP lawmakers have for months pointed out the time elapsed since the Senate last passed a budget.  

“It is imperative that we get our federal budget under control and the first step – the minimum thing that Congress should do – is follow the law that it passed to put discipline on itself,” said Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who also called the lack of a Senate budget “a national scandal.”
Johnson also said that he would procedurally tie up the Senate if the chamber hasn’t passed a budget by April 15, a move he also made last June to protest the budget situation. 

“The other side really does need to put their plan, their budget, on a piece of paper,” Johnson added. “Not just say that they’re for a grand bargain, not just say they’re for fiscal control.”
Republicans’ latest push on the issue comes the same day that the president is scheduled to head to the Capitol to deliver his State of the Union address.

GOP aides said that it was a coincidence that the president was invited to speak to Congress on the 1,000-day anniversary of the last Senate budget. Obama also delivered his 2011 State of the Union address on the fourth Tuesday in January.

For their part, Senate Democrats on Tuesday pushed back on the GOP claims that the Senate had not cleared a budget plan.

The Senate Budget Committee, chaired by Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), released an analysis asserting that the deal reached in August to raise the debt ceiling was, for all intents and purposes, a budget.

The Budget Control Act (BCA) included caps on discretionary spending and examined entitlement programs and revenue, the analysis said. “Republican rhetoric aside, Congress did pass a budget,” the fact sheet added. 

"Either they don't know what they did or they are misrepresenting what we all did," Conrad said on the floor. 

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said that Democrats should be embarassed to claim the budget act as their blueprint because it "fell far, far short of solving this country’s fiscal problems." 

"If the BCA is their answer to fiscal sanity and preventing a debt crisis, then heaven help us," Ryan said. 

The office of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) pointed out that Senate Democrats did write a budget resolution but refused to mark it up in committee last year. 

Sessions said that the U.S. still faced a dire debt situation, even with the caps included in the debt ceiling deal and the automatic cuts scheduled to go into effect due to the failure of the deficit-reduction supercommittee. 

“The limits that we have are not sufficient,” Sessions said. “They were the best that could be accomplished under the circumstances, with the threat of a government shutdown.”
In all, the debt-ceiling deal will lead to north of $2 trillion in spending cuts, while bipartisan commissions have said that the U.S. needs more like $4 trillion in fiscal restraint over a decade.

“Is it not the responsibility of the president, the chief executive office, to tell the American people that the $2 trillion is not enough?” Sessions said, hours before Obama's State of the Union address.

Newt Gingrich: Serial Hypocrisy

This was put together by the Ron Paul campaign but it could have been done by any number of members of Congress who served with Gingrich when he was Speaker of the House. You will hear the same thing from a number of the men and women Republican conservatives on Gingrich. He is not a conservative on a lot of issues and plays up to Democrats on global warming and healthcare for starters.

One thing is obvious that Newt Gingrich will never be known as a small government conservative. If you don't believe Ron Paul, then ask Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) and former Congressman Joe Scarborough or Steve Largent who served with Newt. Without a coalition of Republicans opposing Gingrich in the House and Lott in the Senate, the Congressional leadership would have agreed with Clinton in all of his spending agenda.

Was sent this in email today by a friend of mine who I agree with his comments  100%:

He is an arrogant self-promoter, more interested in publicity and profit
than responsible governance (thus his partnerships with Hillary, Pelosi,
and Barney Frank's Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac), and he has zero
experience as chief executive of a town, city, or state.

No one has the slightest idea what he would do as president, if he has
the skills to lead, and what he would do when things don't go his way -
his history is to be petty and pouty and to blame others ... remind you
of anyone?

Just who is supporting Gingrich?  He sure wouldn't appeal to most conservatives.  Guess that is what happens when you are a former Fox News pundit and they decide to push you.  Ideology doesn't matter, it is the fact you are aligned with Fox News.  When asked a question he drones on and on so much when he is finally finished you are going, "What did he say?"  A major problem is that he loves to trash Republicans like Paul Ryan and curry favor with Democrats more than Republicans.  Why is he considered a conservative?  Cannot believe I agree with Ron Paul but he is correct on Newt.   Those who know him best are saying that when they served with him, he was definitely not a small government conservative.

WSJ: Ruthless People -- Libs to Ginsburg: Drop dead

This was one of those article that made you want to read the first paragraph twice to make sure you understood that the liberals want Ruth Gingsburg to retire from the Supreme Court more than conservatives so that Obama can appoint her successor.  There is one small problem in that Republicans can say no to the Obama choice and filibuster since the Democrats set the standard for filibustering Republican judicial nominees.  Turn about is fair play.

Looks like the Democrats had no idea the losses in 2010 were going to be that large or bet they would have put pressure on her earlier.  With the 2012 election on the horizon chances of a liberal Democrat making it to SCOTUS as an appointee of Obama is slim to none.  Not sure how many Democrats would even go along with an Obama pick at this point.

It is very simple -- no budget with cuts = no more nominees.  Would Democrats sacrifice nominees not to do a budget?  Wouldn't be a surprise at all.   This could get really interesting.  Looks like the Dems shot themselves in the foot on Gingsburg by not putting pressure on her to leave before the 2010 elections, but she doesn't seem to want to retire so they are stuck which is too funny.

Libs to Ginsburg: Drop dead.

Some legal observers would like to be rid of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Associated Press reported over the weekend. These aren't conservatives who find her too activist but liberals who find her too old and worry that if she doesn't get out soon, a Republican president will get to replace her:

Ginsburg could retire now and allow [President] Obama to name a like-minded successor whose confirmation would be in the hands of a Democratic-controlled Senate. "She has in her power the ability to prevent a real shift in the balance of power on the court," said Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of the University of California at Irvine law school. "On the other hand, there's the personal. How do you decide to leave the United States Supreme Court?" . . .

But some on the left say that the focus on the personal is misplaced. Ginsburg needs to put self-interest aside and act for the good of the issues they believe in, Harvard law professor Randall Kennedy wrote recently. Kennedy said 72-year-old Justice Stephen Breyer should leave, too.

Too much is at stake and both life and politics are too fickle to take the risk that everything will work out as the justices desire, Kennedy said.

David Garrow, a Cambridge University historian who follows the court, said Ginsburg's situation points to an institutional problem for the court, "the arguably narcissistic attitude that longer is better." . . .

Justices sometimes look at electoral projections when considering retirement, he said, adding that Ginsburg probably still could decide to retire next summer if Obama's electoral prospects seem shaky.

These guys don't seem very confident about Obama's re-election prospects, do they? Interestingly, quite a few conservatives we talk to are correspondingly pessimistic about the Republicans' ability to defeat Obama. We're with the libs on that one, though only very tentatively.

How can Erwin Chemerinsky miss you when you won't go away?

What's odd about the demands for Ginsburg to take one for the team--really, to sacrifice the remainder of her professional life for the team--is that as crassly political as the people making them are in the view of the law, they don't seem to have given much thought to the politics of confirming a Ginsburg successor. 

The most obvious problem is that although Democrats hold a majority of seats in the Senate, it is not a big enough majority to control the body. If Ginsburg were to retire a year hence, Republicans could easily prevent the confirmation of an Obama-nominated replacement in the four months before the election by using the Democrat-pioneered tactics of waging a smear campaign and filibustering to prevent a confirmation vote. With 47 Republican senators, they could lose as many as 6 and still sustain a filibuster.

Senate Democrats MIA Budget for FY2012

The Senate Democrats are already six weeks behind when the budget is required by statute. Is this going to be another year where there is not a budget agreement until we are in 2012? The House budget is passed so why is it taking the Democrats so long to put their budget in place so it can be voted on and then go to conference committee? The Republican House has met the deadline for a budget but the Senate Democrats are dithering just like their leader by promising a budget and then not producing one.

Under the Obama Democrats in the Senate, their actual duties have faded away with more time being spent on power grabbing by the federal government as well as hiring more government employees at an amazing rate.

Are so many Senate Democrats retiring because they don't want to answer to the American people in 2012 on what took them so long to do their duty of writing a budget. The head of the Senate Budget Committee, Kent Conrad (D-ND), is one of those who is going to retire but he still won't put a budget forward. What is in the Democrat budget they are afraid for Americans to see? Did Conrad really give into Bernie Sanders of VT to take the budget left by adding more money for favorite projects? Do no Democrats in the Senate have a backbone?

Democrats: Where Is Your Budget?

The inability of the Democratic Party to come up with a budget that it can even propose to the American people is the biggest news story of the day. It would be nice if somebody decided to cover it. Yesterday, the Republicans on the Senate Budget Committee commented on the Democrats' paralysis:

With the statutory committee deadline having been missed by six weeks, and with 744 days gone by since the Democrat-led Senate passed a budget, it was reported that this week Senate Democrats would finally produce a budget and hold a markup. But no budget was produced and the markup was delayed yet again. ... [Ranking member Jeff] Sessions summarized the "big problem" facing Democrat leaders during a joint interview with House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan on Greta Van Susteren: "they cannot bring forth a budget their members support that the American people will support, and they understand that, they know that, and they've got a big problem." ...

Reports surfaced this week that Senate Democrats' long-awaited budget plan had not been scheduled for committee action, or shared outside of closed-door meetings with the Democrat caucus, because Chairman Conrad lacked the votes to move the budget out of his committee - particularly, it appeared, the vote of Senator Bernie Sanders. The Hill reported that Senator Conrad shifted the Senate Democrat budget further to the left as a result, coupling every dollar of savings with a dollar in higher taxes - even as the President asserted his so-called framework would achieve three dollars in savings for every one dollar in cuts, albeit a claim that is not borne out by the numbers. ...

Following these revelations, [Congressional Quarterly] published a report indicating that the Senate Democrat Budget had even fewer savings than advertised - cutting only $1.5 trillion over the course of 10 years.

Every intelligent American knows that the federal government is facing a budget crisis that threatens our country's future, yet the Democrats apparently are incapable of coming up with a plan to dig out of the hole their profligate spending has created. What could be clearer evidence of the intellectual bankruptcy of liberalism?

The term 'intellectual bankruptcy of liberalism' describes today's Democrats led by Obama as they have tried to take this Country toward the left and socialism. They have been very successful at putting mandates on the states and spending the United States into a huge deficit that Republicans are trying to cut so our children and grandchildren will not be saddled by the debt. Democrats who claim to care about the 'little people' could care less about getting the Government spending under control which would help everyone.

Why are Obama and the Democrats stopping more oil drilling in the United States?

It is beyond absurd that a country sitting on so much natural wealth refuses to exploit it for the benefit of its citizens and instead deliberately puts the nation in the position of being subjected to the whims of others and face national insolvency. It almost appears to be deliberate.

This morning as I was reading the American Thinker about the oil reserves here in the United States that are untapped, my thoughts turned to what is taking place a few miles from where I live at the University of Oklahoma. Over the years, have met students from countries like Columbia, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Canada to name a few who are at OU because of the Petroleum Engineering degree.

University of Oklahoma Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Engineering is at the forefront of research as one of the top five petroleum research universities in the Country. Within the school which is now part of a new separate College of Earth and Energy you find:

Integrated Core Characterization Center(IC3)
The Integrated Core Characterization Center consists of the complete Amoco rock physics laboratory. This laboratory has unparalleled industrial, commercial and academic capabilities and offers the widest range of measurement and research opportunities in the industry. It evolved from a seismic velocity measurement laboratory to an integrated facility that provides a vast array of petrophysical, seismic and rock mechanics capabilities.

PoroMechanics Institute
Established in September 1992, the PoroMechanics Institute (PMI) is a multidisciplinary research unit of the University of Oklahoma, Norman. The PMI offices and laboratories are located in the Sarkeys Energy Center, a 340,000-square-foot complex at the northeast corner of the campus housing more than 200 teaching and research laboratories.

Well Construction Technology Center
The Well Construction Technology Center is an advanced technology research center that incorporates high pressure, high temperature fluid flow applications using both field scale and lab scale equipment for the oil industry.

The Applied Surfactant Laboratory (ASL)
The ASL is located on the campus of the University of Oklahoma in the Sarkeys Energy Center. The ASL is composed of undergraduate students, graduate students, post doctoral students and researchers who conduct phase equilibrium, sand pack, and core flood studies for both environmental and crude oil recovery applications. ASL has labs in both Petroleum Engineering and Chemical Engineering Departments.

At Mewbourne, the students get a hands on experience on the rigs and for the last seven years have had a 100% placement rate for their students with over 90% going into the oil and gas industry. Students from oil producing countries around the world come to OU for their degrees in Petroleum Engineering. The faculty has been assembed from oil producing countries from around the world for their expertise.



When you combine the expertise of the University of Oklahoma and other major Petroleum Universities teaming with the leaders of oil and gas you are left with the question 'Why aren't we drilling more here and relying less on foreign oil?" The oil and gas fields are right here in the United States yet the Democrats oppose almost all drilling.

Yesterday the first drilling permit was handed out by Energy Secretary to British Petroleum -- get that BP -- same company that caused the huge oil spill in the Gulf and put a moratorium on oil drilling in the Gulf. What does that say about this Administration? Guess the rest of the Petroleum industry didn't donate enough to Obama's campaign.

When you read this article, you will see the large amount of resources we have in our own Country that are untouched because of the Democrats. Elections have consequences and we are seeing that today with the oil and gas industry that Obama has put on its back in the Gulf.

The Only Way Out for the American Economy

Economic despair reigns in America, as stagnation and mounting debt make our future look hopeless. Yet America is uniquely positioned to rebound and recover our economic preeminence. All that is necessary is a political decision to reverse our energy policy and stimulate domestic production of hydrocarbons. From that would flow a true economic stimulus that would mend many of our ills.

The United States is again, for the second time in less than three years, being reminded of its absurd dependence of foreign sources of energy, most notably, oil. The upheavals in the Middle East have driven up the cost of a barrel of oil into triple digits as it was in 2008. The increasing demands of countries such as China and India and the deliberate devaluation of the dollar by the Federal Reserve and the Obama administration are steadily pushing up oil prices in dollars.

The country's dependence of foreign sources has increased to 52% of the daily requirement as compared to 45% just 15 years ago. Over half of that amount comes from countries that are inherently unstable or ruled by despotic regimes whose interest it is to de-stabilize the United States.

Yet the United States is sitting on the world's largest untapped oil reserve. A natural resource that would not only mitigate the over $400 Billion sent overseas to other countries but could create untold millions of jobs and put the country on a sound financial footing.

The untapped reserves are estimated up to 2.3 Trillion barrels, nearly three times the reserves held by the OPEC countries and sufficient to meet 300 years of demand, at today's levels -- for auto, truck, aircraft, heating and industrial fuel, without importing a single barrel of oil.

The US could become the single largest exporter of oil and oil related products in the world, thus potentially eliminating its trade deficit, and increasing the national standard of living as well as making a massive dent in the national debt.

Here is a look at some of the largest untapped reserves:

The Bakken Fields in North and South Dakota. New drilling and oil recovery technology is making the capture of this oil feasible and some development is now underway. It is estimated that there is at least 200 Billion barrels of oil in this region. At a price of $100 per barrel the value of this find is $20 Trillion.

The Outer Continental shelf. It is estimated that around 90 billion barrels of oil sit beneath the ocean bed 50 to 100 miles off the shore of the Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf coasts. The value: $9 Trillion.

The Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. About 10 billion barrels are locked up here with a current value of $1 Trillion.

Tar Sands: Around 75 Billion barrels of oil could come from these areas which are similar to the Canadian tar sand fields and which now produce about 2 million barrels per day. The value: $7.5 Trillion

Oil Shale. This is the most massive area of potential oil production in the world with an estimated 1.5 Trillion barrel potential. The technology necessary to extract this oil is now in place and being operated on a pilot project basis. The value of this resource: $150 Trillion

There also the very real potential that further finds will be discovered as technology continues to improve.

In total the value of the potential oil reserves of the United States listed above exceeds $187 Trillion. The current national debt is $14.2 Trillion or less than 8%.

Despite the protestation of President Obama and the environmentalists the world and particularly the United States is not running out of oil. Their foolish tilting at windmills and solar will never produce energy sufficient to operate a $14Trillion and hopefully growing economy. It will be decades if not the rest of the 21st Century before any meaningful substitute for fossil fuels will be developed and additional time and investment will then be necessary to distribute the product.

Mankind's ingenuity has and will continue to develop technology to safely extract, process and market fossil fuels (which is a naturally occurring resource). But the United States must begin now to open the areas for exploration, and permit the construction of refineries and pipelines.

Fred Barnes: The Five Faulty Theories that Led Obama and Democrats to Disaster

Today while looking for articles about the upcoming election tomorrow, I found all kinds with predictions of what was going to happen on November 2nd. Then I ran across this article from one of my favorites, Fred Barnes, that explained the reasons for the tsunami that is about to hit Democrats tomorrow. It makes perfect sense.

During 2008 campaign, we couldn't believe what we were witnessing as the words of Obama never did match his background but the media went all out for him which will start to cover in the days ahead along with some things that are happening with this President. How he reacts after tomorrow we think we even shock some Democrats. He has never been one to roll up the sleeves and get to work.

Obama is now going to be faced with a new Speaker of the House John Boehner who is one of those roll up the sleeves and get to work people along with Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan, Kevin McCarthy, Mike Pence and other House Republicans. You don't get to where John Boehner is today without hard work and ideas. Like Marco Rubio, he comes from a blue collar family where if you work hard, you can be successful at whatever you do.

That is something Obama has been missing as everything has been handed to him. His surrogates always were able to get other candidates out of the way or make sure every piece of dirty laundry true or not was brought out while covering for Obama. They made sure the members of the media were right there with them in the cover-up of the 'real' Obama.

The American Dream that comes from growing up in mainstream America is not something Obama experienced as a child.  It seems he didn't learn at an early age you have to work for what you achieve because the only thing he has ever worked at is campaigning.  He certainly doesn't work at being President or before that a Senator.  Most of us have faced adversity in our lives and learned to deal with what is handed to us. Obama has been protected by his mentors from learning first hand that you don't always get what you want. He is guilty of thinking he had a mandate for Change but never understood the American people as Fred Barnes has pointed out in his piece today.

Republicans have to remember the same lesson -- the Country is center right and if you govern from center right, everything will be fine but you cannot tilt too far right or they will face a similar backlash. The American people want The People's House back in control of people who understand America and our Constitution and are willing to do what is necessary to preserve our Freedoms. We have watched a group of Republicans led by Republican Leader Boehner, Whip Eric Cantor, and Conference Chair Mike Pence stand up day in and day out for the American people and they never wavered even though vastly out numbered. They kept right on fighting.

Never have been prouder to call myself a Republican then I have these last two years when I have seen how hard the members of Congress have fought for us against all odds. We won the Massachusetts Senate Seat with Scott Brown, then the Virginia and New Jersey Governorships with Bob McDonnell and Chris Christie and the members of the Republican Party became rejuvenated.

Americans for the first time in my lifetime had enough which led to the Tea Party movement which has grown and become stronger because of the leftist, progressive agenda of Obama and the Democrats in Congress.  The media has ignored the fact that a lot of Tea Party people are also the Republican grassroots who form the backbone of most campaigns.  Having the Grassroots involvement doesn't fit the narrative of many media members.  We didn't have the Tea Party in 2004 when the Republican Grassroots rose up here in Oklahoma to work to elected Dr. Tom Coburn to the Senate, but we had those same ideals of the Tea Party they have today. The people fueling Ken Buck's campaign in Colorado are made up with the grassroots along with others who also support the ideals of the Tea Party movement. 

The media has tried their best to define the Tea Party but they don't get it -- the Tea Party is people with the ideals of our Founding Fathers not an 'official' political party as they come from across the political spectrum, from small towns and rural area to large cities. They are united against the path to socialism this Administration and Congress have set us on and on November 2nd, and along with many Americans will speak loud and clear. We want to get America back to the principles of what this Country has been founded on in our Constitution which starts out

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Freedom is a precious gift that was given to all of us by our Founding Fathers and those who fought in the Revolutionary War to secure those Freedoms. This election is about keeping our freedoms and pulling America back from the brink of a socialist path that Obama/Pelosi/Reid have us on today.

The Five Faulty Theories that Led Obama and Democrats to Disaster

The original sin of President Obama and Democrats was their belief in the theory that smashing victories by their party in the 2006 and 2008 elections represented a political realignment that would leave them in power in Washington for decades to come.



As even they should know by now, that theory wasn’t close to being true. A true realignment – and there have been only a handful of them in our history – requires a dramatic shift in the political and ideological leanings of Americans. That hasn’t happened.

The exit polls in the 2008 election and extensive polls since then found that America remains a country with twice as many self-identified conservatives as liberals, while about one-third of Americans consider themselves to be moderates. This breakdown has been the case for years.

The second theory is loosely related to the supposed realignment. It holds that during a serious economic downturn, like the one we experienced beginning in 2008, the public is eager for drastic action by Washington, significantly enlarging the federal government’s role in the economy and in the lives of average Americans. As Michael Barone has noted, Obama and Democrats “acted on this theory,” only to discover that if it was ever operative, it isn’t anymore.

The third theory is also connected to the idea of a center-left nation with faith in the power of government to solve the most difficult problems – a deep recession, for instance. Government spending, widely distributed, would spur demand, cause economic growth, and create jobs. That’s how the theory said things would work.

Thus we got the $1 trillion stimulus (with interest payments included)....

Theory number four grew out of the presidential experience of Bill Clinton. In 1993 and 1994 – his first two years in office – Clinton and his wife Hillary put together a comprehensive health care bill. It never came to a vote. After Democrats were crushed in the midterm election in 1994, the theory arose that the failure to enact the health care measure had caused the defeat, but passage of a health care bill would spare Democrats a similar thrashing this year.

This was always a dubious theory, since crime, a tax hike, gun control, and several other issues played major roles in the Republican landslide in 1994....

Finally, there’s the theory that the president can use the bully pulpit to sell his program to the public. President Obama was regarded as uniquely gifted as a speaker and therefore perfectly suited to using the presidential megaphone to persuade the public. Wrong.

Five theories, wrongly believed but aggressively pursued. Obama and Democrats, who think of themselves as the smart ones, should have known better. That they didn’t is likely to translate into disastrous results tomorrow.

A Raw Deal -- Charlie Crist Tries to get Black Cong Kendrick Meeks to Drop Out of Race

Been around politics and have seen some shady candidates but Charlie Crist may take the cake. Crist goes on the air saying that Kendrick Meeks was going to drop out of the race but changed his mind when supposedly that didn't happen at all. With all the flip flops and story changes which are detailed below, the bottom line seems to be that Crist talked to someone in the White House and may have talked to Clinton about getting Meeks out of the race and endorsing him (Crist). Meeks on the other hand said he is staying in the race and not dropping out.

Who is trustworthy in all of this? Marco Rubio who is the target of both the White House through its surrogates including Clinton and Charlie NO PARTY Crist. Florida voters need to send the DC Democrats and Crist a message that their Senate seat is not for sale.

Why do blacks stay in the Democrat Party is what I would like to know. Can you imagine the uproar if a Republican had tried to do this? It will be on all news stations 24/7. Why is Crist not being called by the media for the scumbag he is or are they finally catching on you cannot believe a word he says.

If former Florida GOP Chair Greer who is under indictment is smart, he will turn on Charlie and tell the truth how Crist used him and aides for his charges so he didn't have to get a card. They have the details of Mrs. Crist trip to Europe that Florida GOP paid the airfare at Charlie's request. How much more money do FL GOP put out to make sure that Crist was pampered.

This also shows that the White House and Clinton were involved in trying to get Sestack out of the race for Arlen Spector in PA. How many other races has that happened?  We expect Harry Reid was also involved in both instances as well. 
When we first said that Charlie Crist will do or say anything to get elected, we were not kidding. He has proven us to be right. What a low life to try and pull this to win a Senate seat and caucus with the Democrats after taking contributions from Republicans which he refused to give back. Crist needs run out of politics for good!

We all know Charlie Crist will say or do anything to get elected. But this time he’s sunk to a new low.

In case you haven’t seen the late breaking news, Charlie Crist tried to cut a last second, backroom deal with former President Bill Clinton, in an utterly shameless attempt to pander for Democrat votes.

News reports of exactly what Crist claims happened are as inconsistent and contradictory as Crist himself. What we do know is that Charlie Crist was trying to engineer a secret deal with President Clinton, admits he was talking to the White House about it (even though he won’t say who), and CNN is reporting that as part of the deal, Crist agreed to caucus with the Democrat leadership in the Senate.

It’s all just shameless.

Secret deals, special favors, and political kickbacks. That’s the problem with Washington today, not the answer. Government shouldn’t be picking winners and losers. And typical politicians shouldn’t be cutting backroom deals to hold power at all costs.

Most of us suspected at the last debate when Crist took Meeks aside that he was discussing Meeks dropping out of the race and endorsing him.  Looks like that was the case.  What made Crist so arrogant that he thought that Meeks should drop out and support him -- why didn't he drop out and support Meeks?  Never mind, Charlie doesn't do anything for anyone except himself.  Meek has been on the air this morning blasting Crist.  If there are any Republicans still supporting Charlie, they had better think twice at the person they are thinking of voting for in the Senate race.  Then you have Meeks who supposedly thought about dropping out.

Making the rounds on several national television network news shows on Friday morning, Democrat Kendrick Meek lashed out at independent Charlie Crist for fueling what he called false rumors that former President Bill Clinton had asked him to drop out of the Senate race.

``[Clinton] didn't ask me to drop out of the race,'' Meek told Fox & Friends. He said that longtime political mentor had asked him last week about ``rumors'' that he might possibly withdraw from the race.

Meek said he told Clinton that he was not going to bow out of the race. ```That's your decision,''' Meek recalled Clinton telling him during a conversation backstage at a rally in Florida.

He then slammed Crist for playing a political trick to damage his bid for the Senate.

``I don't operate like this, and the bottom line is, is that Charlie Crist does,'' Meek said. ``It's mind boggling.''

Meek said that Crist himself had called him during the campaign to urge him to leave the race.

``I told him I'm not getting out of the race,'' he said. ``I don't sellout on the people of Florida.''

Now we have Bill Clinton involved in all of this.  Some things never change about Clinton -- he was untrustworthy as President and his word was worth nothing -- looks like that has not changed either.  Then throw in the Obama White House and Crist and you have a whole group of unethical politicians.  The Sestack story with Specter now makes sense.  Pennsylvania voters better think twice about voting for Sestack as well. 

Now we know for sure that Charlie Crist's votes and who he would caucus with were for sale.  He needs to lose the No Party label and become a Democrat to join the unethical Clinton and Obama.

Kendrick Meek Talked With Bill Clinton About Quitting Senate Race

Rep. Kendrick Meek confirmed Friday that he and Bill Clinton discussed speculation that the Democrat might drop out of the three-way contest for Senate in Florida. But Meek denied reports from Politico and others that the former president pressured him to quit in order to help Republican-turned-independent Gov. Charlie Crist beat GOP nominee Marco Rubio.

"We had a conversation in Orlando. The president and I talked about it," Meek said on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe" Friday. "I told him I'm not going to do it and that's just the bottom line."

Crist revealed in televised interviews that he was aware of the conversation between Meek and Clinton -- and that he also discussed possible withdrawal with Meek and spoke with the White House about it.

Clinton told CNN he and Meek spoke twice about rumors that he might drop out, but the former president said he didn't discuss it with the White House. He also refused to say what advice he gave Meek, a longtime friend for whom he campaigned in Florida.

The White House knew about the plan but did not initiate the talks.

"Not being seen as a quitter was more important than stopping someone who was so opposed to what you and your party had stood for," said one Democrat about Meek's decision to stay in.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele issued a written statement Thursday that said in part: "President Clinton's actions to have Kendrick Meek withdraw from the campaign sends a chilling signal to all voters, but especially African Americans. One can only imagine the response if Republican leadership tried to force out of the race – in the 11th hour – a qualified black candidate like Kendrick Meek."

The Rubio camp also reacted to the Politico report in a statement Thursday.

"Secret deals to trade away principles for power is already the problem in Washington, it's not the solution," Senior Strategist Todd Harris wrote. "This is simply politics as usual which is exactly what voters across the country are emphatically rejecting this election."

Fallout from Oklahoma Governor's Debate Continues as Askins Answers See the Light of Day!

As the day has gone on and more information has come to light, very happy to know the first take on the debate last night was correct. Because of Askins refusing to look at the camera or audience during closing remarks, had a hunch that she wasn't exactly telling the truth. Some of her statements left you going "What did she just say?"

In last night's gubernatorial debate, Jari Askins asked: "If I don't stand up for myself, how do you know I'll stand up for you?"

Thought I heard her say that and then figured I must have misunderstood, but sure enough that is exactly what she said and she wants to be our Governor? No wonder we have heard little from her for the past four years when she makes statements like that. Someone who won't stand up for herself wants to be our Governor? Give me a break!

We just received this email from Denise Northrup, Mary Fallin's campaign manager, about Askins comments last night along with the facts that confirmed what we thought we heard. No wonder Askins didn't want to look at the camera or audience. Yet even though she lied, she wants voters to trust her to look out for our best interests? Not on your life! Trying to convince the people watching that all Oklahoma Democrats are conservatives could go down as the whopper of the year in Oklahoma.

Askins isn't the only one as fellow Oklahoma Democrats are working overtime with whoppers in this election -- one they are telling about the House Leadership that is appearing in ads has been debunked by none other than the District Attorney from Oklahoma County who happens to be a Democrat. He had to come out and say the Democrat opponent was lying about the Lt Governor candidate Todd Lamb. Guess this is what happens when members of Obama's Party are losing big -- the lies are popping up everywhere from Democrats.

Now back to last night's facts from the debate which are making Jari Askins comments look even worse today. The Oklahoman isn't looking too good either with their comments about the debate last night. Read the paper's comments and asked myself if we watched the same debate and why didn't they fact check. Sure happy we are not as dumb as the Democrats think we are -- guess Democrats forget that Republicans do a lot of research following debates which is what we have here:

Dear Friends,

In last night's gubernatorial debate, Jari Askins asked: "If I don't stand up for myself, how do you know I'll stand up for you?"

We think that's a good question. How do we know Jari Askins will stand up for us? How do we know she'll do what's right for Oklahoma's families and businesses? And how do we know that, when push comes to shove, Jari is ready to stand up to her party leaders in Washington, who have deepened the recession and further plunged the nation into debt with policies like Obamacare, cap-and-trade and the so-called "stimulus." The answer is, we don't.

We don't know that Jari will stand up for Oklahoma because we don't know where she stands on important issues. After last night's debate, we're not sure Jari knows where she stands either, and we are certainly confused by the claim that she's always been a conservative. Jari told our debate audience that she has opposed Obamacare and supported the provision on the November ballot to opt out of the federal health care plan for over a year.

Really?

On July 28 of this year, Jari told The Oklahoman she was undecided on the issue and that she was "still reading the bill." Click here to read more. We aren't very comforted by the idea that more than 200 days after that bill was signed into law but just 13 days before the election, Jari has finally come around to opposing one of the most damaging pieces of legislation to come out of Washington in decades. And we're still waiting to hear from Jari what she is actually going to do about this law, which would place more than $500 million in unfunded mandates on Oklahoma's state government. Mary Fallin has said she supports challenging the law on constitutional grounds. Jari has not.

As for the claim that Jari has supported the health care "opt out" provision for over a year, that provision was added to the ballot less than six months ago. And as late as September of this year, Askins still could not definitively tell the Tulsa World how she would vote. Whether or not she votes to opt out - and we certainly hope she does - Jari's claims don't add up.

On cap-and-trade, Jari again said she opposed the president for over a year. But in this week's copy of the Oklahoma Gazette, her campaign manager explains why Jari hasn't taken a real stand on the issue: "Jari could give an opinion on cap and trade, but it's just an opinion. I think Oklahomans would prefer she be more concerned with helping run the state of Oklahoma." Click here to read more.

We agree that voters want a leader who will focus on running the state of Oklahoma. But we also think they want a leader who is clear about where they stand on important issues and is ready to stick up for our families and small businesses. After all, if you can't stand up and defend your own positions, how can we trust you to stand up for Oklahoma?

Mary Fallin is the only candidate in this race who has been a consistent conservative. She's the only candidate ready to lead. And unlike Jari, we can be sure Mary won't take her marching orders from Washington. Mary is ready to work with Republicans, Democrats and independents to create more jobs, eliminate wasteful spending and stand up to Washington. We hope we can count on your support for Mary Fallin on November 2. Together, we can build a better, more prosperous Oklahoma.

John Boehner: On “Face The Nation”: Freezing All Tax Rates Essential to Helping Economy, Creating Jobs

These are the facts about Republican Leader Boehner's appearance on Face Nation as the clip appearing on the alphabet news networks and the internet  was taken out of context by the Democrat Media who are carrying the water for Obama. Even some of the conservative media and people jumped on the Democrat bandwagon's shortened clip going after Cong Boehner without the facts. You would think that some conservative sites would get a get clue and get the facts before jumping to conclusions.

Anyone who knows John Boehner knows is very conservative and his voting record says that no matter what people including some conservatives try to spin -- it is not going to work. The attacks on Boehner by Obama and his media are making some people think they (Democrats and media) are terrified of November 2nd. Why attack the person who is likely to become the Speaker of the House if you know your side is going to maintain control? Have a hunch their internals are looking really bad which they should be after the socialist agenda the Democrats have been passing.

The infamous Pelosi quote saying "But we have to pass the [health care ] bill so that you can find out what is in it." should give anyone pause before they vote for a Democrat again. In case you forgot, here is Pelosi in her own words:



The arrogance of Pelosi and the Democrats knows no end when the Speaker of the House is willing to say "But we have to pass the [health care ] bill so that you can find out what is in it." Everyone who voted for Pelosi for Speaker (100% of Democrats) owes us an apology. If you have a to read a bill to find out what is in it, that bill should never see the light of day.  The House Democrats have abdicated their duties as Representatives of the American people and should be sent to the unemployment lines on November 2, 2010, by the American voters.

During an appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation” this morning, Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) said that Republicans are not holding middle-class tax cuts hostage, but instead are focused on working across party lines to do what’s best for our economy, which means freezing all tax rates. Boehner’s comments deprive President Obama of the ability to continue making false claims about where Republicans stand on this critical issue. Boehner noted that in stark contrast to Republicans’ proposal to freeze all tax rates to promote small business job creation, the president’s plan raises taxes on half of small business income in America, punishing the very employers who are already afraid to invest in the economy. During the interview, Boehner called on President Obama and Democratic Leaders to heed the growing bipartisan outcry for freezing all the tax rates and allow Congress to have an open dialogue on the issue this month. “If the only option I have is to vote for some of those tax reductions, I’ll vote for it. But I’ve been making the point now for months that we need to extend all the current rates for all Americans if we want to get our economy going again, and we want to get jobs in America. … I would hope that there would be an open debate, an open process, and let’s let the Congress decide what the current tax rates should be and for who they should be. I think there’s a growing chorus on Capitol Hill to extend all of these tax rates, and I would hope that we would do it.”

Boehner Notes That Half Of Small Business Income In America Will Face Higher Taxes Under The President's Plan:

“It’s not Republicans standing in the way here, there’s a growing chorus of Democrats in both the House and the Senate, who believe that we should extend the current tax rates for all Americans. When you start to look at who’s going to be taxed, about half of all small business income will be taxed under the president’s proposal. These are the very people that we expect to invest in the economy and to begin creating jobs. Why would we want to punish them?”

Boehner: Raising Taxes In A Weak Economy Is A Bad Idea, And Economists Agree:

“I think raising taxes in a very weak economy is a really, really bad idea, and most economists would agree with that. “I think the other thing that has to happen is that we’ve got to cut spending. If we cut spending we will help our economy, we will send signals to the markets, we will send signals to the business community, that Washington’s attempting to get its fiscal house in order. That’s why the two things that I called on the President to do this week, was to extend all of the current tax rates and let’s do a spending bill this month, not after the election, and not at bloated levels. Let’s go back to 2008 levels which are about 22% below the current rates, and let’s do the spending bill now. And show the American people that we can work together to cut spending and to keep the current tax rates in order.”

“The president says we’ve had no new ideas, but we’ve offered him new ideas for the last 20 months. L.A. fuming over Obama traffic, demands investigation

Having lived in Southern California in the 80's and been stuck in traffic on the 405 in 2001, cannot fathom the worst massive traffic jam ever. Was reminded why I never should complain about traffic jams in Oklahoma that last 30 minutes or less, maybe more if it is a bad accident but NEVER for a function. Chances of Obama coming into Red State Oklahoma are slim to none because the Democrat Governor's candidate Jari Askins, who is an Obama supporter and liberal, said no thanks!

This comment right here sums up the feeling of a lot of Southern California residents caught in the traffic jam caused by Obama.

One man, who did not want to give his name, said it had taken his wife four hours to drive home from Brentwood. Another man trying to walk west on 6th Street to his office shouted at the officers blocking his way and told them he wished he had voted for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Obama's opponent in the 2008 presidential race.

Obama was criticizing Republicans last week for concentrating on the elections in November, but the first Arab American President never misses an opportunity to fundraise for Democrats even though he keeps inconveniencing people and costing the taxpayers huge dollars for his fundraising trips on Air Force One. Has the media ever asked if the DNC has reimbursed the Air Force for these political trips including hotels, etc., or do they expect the taxpayers to foot the bill?

The question of the day is "What idiot would schedule an Obama fundraiser in Los Angeles during Rush Hour?"

What's with Democrats tying up things in Los Angeles? Remember when Clinton tied up LAX as he received his haircut on Air Force One. Looks like the title of the 'Party of the Elite' belongs to the Democrats who are also raiding the food stamp fund now to pay for the Obama giveaway agenda while Republicans are saying it should not be touched to fund teachers. Democrats chose teachers over the poor people who need food stamps to live. When are people going to wake up that the Obama agenda is now being passed on the backs of those who can afford it least -- food stamp recipients. Now Obama ties up traffic so he can party with the Hollywood elite although we hear that Barbara Streisand was not in attendance.

Wonder how many people if they had a chance to change their vote would echo the person above and vote for McCain?

The massive traffic jam that resulted from President Obama's motorcade and speech Monday night in Hancock Park is prompting calls for an investigation from some residents, who say they were caught in traffic for hours.



Obama was only in L.A. for a few hours, but his presence caused numerous streets to be blocked off.

Residents reported that commutes and errands that typically took minutes turned into hours-long ordeals. One particular complaint was that streets remained blocked for hours -- even when Obama was inside TV producer John Wells' Hancock Park home at a fund-raiser.

"What has occurred is way beyond reasonable and can only be described as negligent," L.A. resident Kevin McCarthy said in an e-mail to The Times. "If it isn't my story, currently evolving, of beginning my 1 mile journey home at 5pm and at 7:50pm now being 3 miles from home with no viable idea of how to get closer, it should be about the two sirens-wailing ambulances I have witnessed stuck in this unnecessary gridlock."

The Los Angeles Fire Department reported no delays for emergency vehicles. But the LAPD heard an earful from angry motorists.

Carlos Garcia, a 25-year-old waiter from Miracle Mile, had the misfortune of setting out on a run about the time the area went on lock-down. He had planned on a four-mile run, but it turned into 5.5 miles as he tried unsuccessfully to get back home, ultimately waiting 25 minutes at a yellow-police-tape barrier.

"They waved me through, but then they stopped me coming back," he said. "I can't believe they did it during rush hour on a Monday."

BREAKING NEWS: WND's Miami Conference Dumps Florida Tea Party

This is great news that organizations like Florida GOP, the grassroots Tea Party people, and World Net Daily are fighting back against some of these Tea Party candidates who are obviously Democrat plants. We were complaining earlier this year that one Tea Party movement that we keep getting emails from several times a day only seemed to be interested in contributions but when looking into it closer discovered the group wasn't registered and money they collected was forwarded to another group. That raised the red flags.

As far as the Congressman Grayson is concerned, don't think he has an ethical bone in his body but he sure has a large mouth which is why he is known as Pelosi's attack dog. Hard to believe he was elected to Congress but then his district did have a lot of Mickey and friends votes. Couldn't ACORN come up with real names? Today he is going after the Obama Press Secretary calling him "Gibbs the Bozo" as witnessed on the video at Hot Air.

World Net Daily has the details about what is happening in Florida with the 'Florida Tea Party' who is running candidates and should not be confused with the grassroots Tea Party people in Florida. The Democrats are hoping people will get confused but knowledge of what is happening will stop the unethical Florida Democrats led by Grayson in their tracks.

WND has rejected sponsorship of its "Taking America Back National Conference" in Miami next month by the Florida Tea Party after an investigation of the group concluded it was misrepresenting itself.

"We are returning the money this group paid for sponsoring the conference and rejecting its participation," said Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND. "This event and the tea party movement are not about making money. They are about changing the direction of our country. It's clear to me that the Florida Tea Party movement has an agenda all its own."

Unlike the estimated 90 grass-roots tea party groups in the state, the Florida Tea Party is fielding candidates under its banner. The grass-roots activists fear Florida Tea Party candidates will give Democratic Party candidates such as Rep. Alan Grayson an advantage by siphoning conservative votes from Republican opponents.

According to published reports today, including in the Orlando Sentinel, the Florida Republican Party has launched several legal challenges to the Florida Tea Party, which registered itself with state election officials and is fielding some 20 candidates in state and federal elections, including three key House races. The lawsuits allege election law violations.

The Sentinel report said activists in the state's tea party movement have alleged the Florida Tea Party is confusing voters by co-opting the tea party name and running candidates under its name.

"The [party] appears to be an organized effort to confuse and mislead conservative voters and is not a part of the real tea party movement," Don Hensarling, a state tea party activist who filed the lawsuits announced in a news release obtained by the paper.

The Orlando paper also cited an investigation by WKMG-TV in Orlando alleging financial links between Grayson and a co-founder of the Florida Tea Party, longtime political consultant and anti-tax activist Doug Guetzloe.

Goetzloe insisted to WND the only connection is Grayson's purchase of advertising on his radio show, "The Guetzloe Report." Guetzloe points to his "tea party bona fides" dating back to 1997. He's founder of the anti-tax group Ax the Tax, which, he says, has saved Florida taxpayers some $11 billion. He has served as co-chair of the Central Florida Tea Party, he argues, and attended multiple tea party events. He has promoted all tea party events on his radio show, he notes.

A leader in the state tea party movement, Tom Tillison of the Tea Party Patriots Live radio show and the Orlando Tea Party, told WND he and other tea party leaders in the state with whom he regularly communicates think the Florida Tea Party was set up to split the conservative vote and keep Democrats like Grayson in office.

In its legal action, the Florida GOP claims there are problems with the election paperwork of four of the Florida Tea Party members: Peg Dunmire, who is challenging Grayson; Dunmire's son, Darrin, in state House District 40; Dunmire's housemate, Juanita Virone, in state House District 35; and Jonathan Foley, in state House District 41.

Peg Dunmire has explained, the Sentinel said, she paid for other candidates' filing fees. But the complaints allege the transactions are considered campaign contributions, which is forbidden before campaigns open their own accounts.

The cases seek to allow Hensarling and others to take testimony from the candidates and examine their bank records to look for proof of an election law violation, the newspaper said.

Grayson, in a statement to the paper, compared the Republican Party of Florida to "a dying iguana with an arrow through its skull. It was thrashing around in a way very much like the Republican Party of Florida does today."

Politico has reported allegations of links between tea party factions and Democrats in several other states. FoxNews.com has published a similar report, citing cases in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Nevada as well as Florida.

Farah said the scheduled conference in Miami will focus on the real issues.

"We hope real tea party groups all across Florida and the U.S. join us in Miami next month to celebrate the political rebirth of this country and help us strategize about the future," he said.

The plan is "to arm attendees with actionable intelligence," says Farah.

NRCC Launches a new Website -- Where are the Dems?

House Republicans have launched a new website Where are the Dems calling out vulnerable House Democrats on their avoiding town hall meetings during their summer recess.

NRCC site shows 69 of the chamber's most vulnerable Democratic members have yet to schedule town hall meetings and encourages visitors to contact the lawmakers and ask why. So far only 6 of the democrats listed as vulnerable have scheduled Town Hall Meetings:

Six out of 75 vulnerable House Democrats are willing to hold a Town Hall meeting to report back to their constituents. Remember the NRCC is only covering the most vulnerable of the 265 House Democrats up for reelection. How many of the other 190 are holding Town Halls. We would guess very few except the ones who have voted mostly with the GOP not Pelosi like Dan Boren of Oklahoma.

One tip we would give people who go to Town Halls is to be respectful of the position even if you detest the man. Don't give the Democrats any wiggle room and ask the tough questions. Last summer the media focused on disruption of the Town Halls. This summer ask those tough questions and wait for them to spin their answers. Call them on their spin or lies but don't do it by shouting them down. Get their lies on tape which is much more benefit in the general then people shouting down the members of Congress.

Republicans were accused of being the disruptors but were they Republicans? Most we know will show respect even if we don't like the candidate. Not used to seeing people shouted down by Republicans which makes me wonder if a lot of these people creating the scenes were even Republican. Could some of the people have been moles. When the audience makes it so unbearable that the candidate walks off the stage, then you have gained nothing except being on the local news looking like Democrat thugs.

Time for Republicans to play it smart and win every seat we can in the fall.

BREAKING NEWS: Democrats vote in Senate to let tax rates rise

All Republicans in the Senate voted together along with Ben Nelson voted to keep the current tax rate structure while Democrat Senators voted to allow the tax rates rise for individuals and small business. Democrats seem to enjoy killing the economy although with the jump in jobless claims, it is already on life support. Today's announcement of an unexpected jump in unemployment rates shows the economy is not recovering like the Democrats were pushing. Weekly jobless claims climb 19,000 to 479,000, at highest levels since April.

What is the Democrat answer to a bad economy? Raise taxes and make sure they hit small business owners who provide a lot of the jobs. It is almost like the Dems want a bad economy so government can take over more of our lives.

While Michelle Obama vacations in Spain with her youngest daughter on our taxpayer dollars, unemployment rises. Why can't the Obama's just stay home in the White House and stop going overseas? Maybe that is why the Democrats want to raise taxes so the Obama's can take more trips at our expense or throw bigger weekly parties.

Senate Dems vote to let tax rates rise

With these two identical 58-42 votes, all Senate Democrats except Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., just voted to let rates rise for individuals and small businesses beginning next year. The vote, forced by Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., would have extended the current, lower rates for the two categories.
