Romney Generates Little to No Enthusiasm in the Republican Party

What do these headlines and stories below tell about Mitt Romney who will stop at nothing to be the Republican nominee for President?  The base along with even a lot of his endorsers are not thrilled Romney is going to be the candidate and a good 20% will refuse to vote for him IMHO.

What candidate in today's environment following the end of the cold war and the attack on the United States by al Qaeda on 9/11/2001 would name Russia as our #1 problem?  Not anyone who has an ounce of foreign policy experience or even anyone who has read the papers since 9/11 and the fall of the Berlin Wall before that.

Guess Romney forgot about the famous words of Reagan on June 12, 1987, "Mr. Gorbachev Tear Down This Wall" referring to the Berlin Wall put in place by the Russians to seal off the east for those Romney supporters who don't get it.  On Novembers 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall fell setting in motion the destruction of the Soviet Union as more of their alliance declared independence.

We are talking over 20 years since the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Union broke up but Romney still considers them our greatest enemy.  He must not read any more than the McCain running mate in 2008.  Gaffes like that are reasons why so many of us don't trust him to be President.  At least reading these headlines makes you realize you have a lot of company:

[I]f Romney really couldn't stand to be dishonest, he had options. He could have just decided the ideological dissonance required to run as a Republican in Massachusetts, or as that Massachusetts Republican in a national Republican primary, was more than he could bear. But there's no reason to believe that Romney is especially dishonest in his core—that he has any special propensity to lie to his friends or neighbors or clients. He wanted a political career, and once he made that decision, he had only two choices: massive dishonesty or certain defeat.

I've thought about this scenario before, but it bears repeating. There was a third option open to Mitt Romney: He could've entered national politics as a business-oriented, socially moderate Democrat in the mold of Virginia Sen. Mark Warner. Let's call it the Third Way.

How many people do you know who dislike Romney and don't want his picture on your TV after all his nastiness against Republicans?  I used to say "fellow" Republicans but frankly the last link is probably more true that he should have run as a Democrat because he is not comfortable in the Republican Party running for President.  It shows more by the day that he doesn't even like a good portion of the Republican Party but the to be honest the feeling in mutual.   Have zero respect for Romney and the fraud he has pulled on the Republican Party pretending to be conservative when we all know better.  Yet some still wonder why we don't support Romney?

Even his fundraisers have little enthusiasm as people are tired of donating to Romney in order to trash Republicans.  Republicans need money for House and Senate races in the fall while Romney is the one who chose to blow through all his millions of Wall Street donations with his negative advertising.  What a waste.  Major donors are starting to turn him off for the way he has wasted money and trashed the Republican brand.  He is going to get the nomination most likely even though 70% of Republicans don't want him.  Then the powers at the RNC won't be able figure out why we won't donate to the Republican National Committee who is now raising money for Romney before he even has the nomination:

That reinforces what so many of us have been saying that the RNC has done everything in its power to get Romney the nomination stepping all over conservatives but yet they think he is going to win because people don't like Obama.  Not liking Obama is true but I am getting to the stage I dislike them both about equal. How can the RNC say with a straight face they know how Romney would govern when they have no clue because his core conservative values are lacking.  Now if they want to say he will govern as a moderate to liberal then I would agree.  He is Obama and Democrat lite and no amount of trying to pretty up the candidate is going to change that.

Putting Romney's wife out front to make him seem more human is a joke when in 2002 she promised the women of MA that they had nothing to fear from her Republican husband as he would continue to support a woman's right to choose.  Are the Romneys trying to rewrite history because if they are, they don't understand the internet.

Now the Mormon Church has launched another radio campaign defending Mormons.  What other church advertises repeatedly on the radio about the people of their church and how conservative they are -- what is conservative about the Mormon Church that would appeal to women when women are to be seen and not heard in church affairs?  Those advertisements are condescending toward the rest of us like our churches don't matter.  If the Mormon Church thought this campaign was going to help Romney, they need to think again.  When the ad came on in the middle of our sports talk radio, I turned the station.

Force feeding us Romney as the RNC and establishment types have done for months has not endeared Romney to most conservatives.  Are endorsements being done to stop the Romney attacks on Republicans which has been hurting our candidates so they want the race over?  Most lackluster endorsements I have ever heard and beginning to sound more forced by the day.

Romney should have run as a Democrat because frankly that is where he is getting most of his votes.   It is still my belief he became a Republican only because he didn't want to face Ted Kennedy in the primary and the Republican nomination was there for the asking.  There is absolutely nothing to suggest that he should have been a Republican ever starting in 1976 when he became an independent until 1994 when he ran against Ted Kennedy.

Since Romney was an independent for over 18 years, we are sure he will understand why a lot of conservatives are going to be voting  for a candidate other than Romney if he is the Republican nominee.  If it was good enough for Romney to be an independent that many years, then it is good enough for those of us who don't like Romney to vote for a 3rd Party like Libertarian former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson who could come back and haunt the RNC for the way they treated him in our primary.

This voter is going to give Johnson a serious look for President.

As more truth comes out about Romney, the more conservatives are asking "Why is Romney a Republican?" and the answer lies in the fact the didn't want to oppose Ted Kennedy in the primary so he thought he would get the Republican nomination and run against Senator Kennedy in the general.

Then there are the details that came out that when he was running for Governor in 2002, he ran away from Republicans and Reagan the whole campaign.  Massachusetts residents thought they were getting a liberal Republican which they did.  Only when he decided that after Romneycare he wouldn't get a second term, he decided to track more to the middle to run for President.  Isn't that great -- you cannot get reelected as Governor so you decide to wait two years and run for President.

Once again we ask why did the establishment types think Romney was such a good candidate when conservatives cannot stand him?  This is another example why over 70% of voters in state after state vote for anyone but Romney but yet he is still shoved in our face as he is going to be our candidate.  If he is, it will be because he won so many delegates from Blue States like California and New York where it is hard to find enough conservatives to offset the liberals.  Essentially we have solid blue states choosing our nominee and this is supposed to be good?  I forgot -- conservatives are supposed to sit down, shut up, and vote for Romney in the fall against Obama who is the end of the earth.  So we vote for Obama lite instead?

Looks to me like the people in charge don't have a clue how conservatives think or are going to react.  Don't know anyone who is voting for Romney in various states and they don't like Obama.  Romney is no candidate of conservative Republicans who far outnumber the moderate to liberals in the party, but we don't control the party so they felt free to stick it to conservatives this time with Romney who couldn't beat McCain.  May be for the last time as conservatives won't be silenced no matter how much the elites say we should shut up or those annoying, nasty Romney supporters.

Time to clean house at the RNC and get rid of the Chair from Wisconsin.  Why should a chair from a blue state be running things at the RNC.  Blue states that are large get more delegates than reliably red states so they can choose their moderate to liberal candidates.  Disgusting way to do business.  Whoever decided Romney was the answer needs FIRED yesterday!

GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney was so close a partner with the liberal late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy in the crafting of Massachusetts' sweeping healthcare law that he frequently referred to Kennedy as “my collaborator and friend.” 

Now, of course, Romney is depicting himself as a “severe conservative” and doing everything he can to distance himself from the law that was the basis for Obamacare — the president’s signature healthcare law, The New York Times points out in an extensive article Sunday on the relationship. 

Among other things, the Times reveals that:

• Romney’s attempt in 1994 to “out-Kennedy Kennedy” during a Senate race led him to take stands on issues like abortion and gay rights that he has since backed away from, giving rise to accusations that he is a flip-flopper.

• Romney did not make healthcare a cause when he ran for governor in 2002. But by the fall of 2004, changing circumstances in Washington pushed him into it — and into a partnership with Kennedy.

• With Democrats in control of the state legislature,Romney had little hope of passing a massive healthcare bill on his own. Kennedy worked lawmakers behind the scenes, writing notes, cajoling, making telephone calls and stepping in when negotiations between House and Senate Democrats broke down.

• Kennedy schooled Romney, who was notorious for not knowing many lawmakers by name, in how to woo Democrats in the Massachusetts legislature to get the healthcare law passed. In particularly difficult moments for the bill, Romney would attempt to adopt Kennedy’s personal touch leading Democratic lawmakers.

• Kennedy had more pull with the Republican Bush administration and actually intervened on Romney’s behalf to get a deal with the federal government that extended the waiver of certain federal rules, giving Massachusetts flexibility in administering its Medicaid program and extra money for hospitals that cared for the poor. That helped pave the way for what is now known as “Romneycare,” or as some Republican conservatives put it, “Obamneycare.”

Victims of redistricting so far: Two Dems, one Republican

Casualty #1 of redistricting from the 2010 Census happens in Missouri to Democrat Russ Carnahan of St. Louis. The MO House has already overrode the veto of Democrat Governor Nixon (bet he is a one term Governor) and the MO Senate is set to follow suit. Couldn't have happened to a better person than Russ Carnahan whose claim to fame seems to be to incite the SEIU against all Republicans in the St. Louis area.

Also news that Cong Donnelly (D-IN) has lost most of his Democrat district is going to give Republicans a chance to take this district. Republicans look to have lost Rep Landry (R-LA) in redistricting.

There are also reports that Ohio is going to see Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) leave the state for Washington to run for their new seat. Want to bet what seat is being abolished in Ohio by the Republican Legislature and the Republican Governor. If I was looking at a seat to abolish in Ohio, Kucinich's seat would have been my #1. Don't think he could get elected if they even removed one county from his district. Now he is most likely off to Washington State as a carpetbagger where his politics fits much better than Ohio. Shocked he didn't go to northern California.

Since we have heard nothing in Oklahoma and our redistricting is pretty much finished, we expect to see almost the same map as we have had the previous ten years with four Republican districts and one Democrat.

Wonder what Democrats are going to be out in Texas and Florida. With the big win in the House in November, there are not as many Democrat seats in either state now to make a decision. Is that is why the Democrats chose Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) to be their new national chair? It would make sense.

Today, the heavily Republican Missouri House voted to override Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon's veto of their congressional redistricting plan. The state Senate, which has a veto-proof GOP majority, is expected to follow suit.

Missouri is losing a seat, and the loser in the game of musical chairs is Rep. Russ Carnahan, D. His district is being divided up between Rep. William Lacy Clay, D, and three Republicans. Clay will now represent all of Saint Louis proper and a portion of Saint Louis County.

Carnahan becomes the third near-certain victim of this year's redistricting process, and the second (along with Rep. Jeff Landry, R-La.) to have his district abolished altogether. Rep. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., will not lose his district, but he lost so much Democratic turf under the new map that he will be an underdog for re-election, should he choose to run.

So far, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, and Oklahoma have all produced congressional maps that have been or are expected to become law.

The redistricting scoreboard so far: D-2, R+0.

NRSC Launches New California TV Ad, “Nothing Will Change” -- Boxer Fails to Report House on Ethics Report

"Nothing Will Change" is probably the understatement of the year.  Barbara 'Call me Senator' Boxer is one of the more dense along with being arrogant Senators we have.  Cannot believe the people of California kept sending her back to DC.  Makes one wonder how many illegal votes have been cast over the years when Obama can go in the state and encourage Latinos to punish the enemies of immigration reform.  How many illegals have voted in California?  We already know in Los Angeles, they will move polling places right before the election so legitimate voters have a hard time finding them.

We are hoping the next Governor of California will be Meg Whitman and a priority will be to clean up the voting lists in the precincts in California especially in the large cities where voter fraud is rampant.  Wonder how much more of a percentage of voters has to turn out in California to counter the voter fraud?  The United States sends representatives overseas to monitor elections when we have massive election fraud in our own Country which the DOJ turns a blind eye.  Now the Holder DOJ also has turned a blind eye to voter intimidation by the new Black Panthers which you would see in a 3rd World Country.

Californians now have a chance to make a difference by retiring Barbara Boxer and her lack of ethics and electing Carly Fiorina to be their next Senator who will work for Californians not Obama/Reid.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) announced its first independent expenditure television advertisement in California today, entitled "Nothing Will Change," highlighting millionaire U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer’s (D-CA) failed record in Washington supporting higher taxes and job crushing policies in Washington.




NRSC Press Secretary Amber Marchand issued the following statement:

"Millionaire Senator Barbara Boxer has spent her entire career looking out for the best interests of one person: herself. Boxer’s partisan, ineffective work in Washington fighting for higher taxes and job killing policies haven’t helped the families, seniors, and job creators in California who are facing more than 12 percent unemployment today."

The Los Angeles Times’ Maeve Reston reports:

Though the criticism of Boxer's effectiveness and the charge that she's been in office too long mirrors the core message of Republican challenger Carly Fiorina's campaign, the NRSC's new spot seeks to get the attention of women with a female narrator and images of seven women looking solemnly in the camera... The NRSC ad is part of its $7.8-million investment in the race, the first $4.8 million of which was directed toward a series of ads in concert with the Fiorina campaign.

Today we also learn that Barbara Boxer who heads the Senate Ethics Committee has failed to disclose real property valued at over $1M she owns on her ethics report from 2002 - 2010. As head of Ethics, leaving off this house would bring into question WHY? She knows better but did it anyway.

After reading this and other items showing lack of ethics and transparency of candidates, the Senate needs new Ethics Rules. Anyone with a complaint against them should not be Chairing or even be on the Ethics Committee. Think it is time for full disclosure of anyone running for office including incumbents. Also the idea that someone can 'loan' their campaign money needs looked at as well because it puts millionaire's running for office on a different playing field.

It is past time to replace one of the more annoying Senators Barbara Boxer and her liberal agenda with a Senator who will listen to the people, Carley Fiorina.

BREAKING: Ethics Foundation Requests A.G. Holder Investigate Sen. BoxerOctober 26, 2010 - by Roger L Simon

In a breaking development that may affect the close California Senate race, Pajamas Media has learned The Foundation for Ethics in Public Service sent a letter to Eric Holder last Thursday requesting the attorney general “begin an investigation to determine whether United States Senator Barbara Boxer violated any criminal laws or should be liable for any civil penalty for failure to disclose real property on her Personal Financial Disclosure Reports between 2002 and 2010.”

The Foundation for Ethics in Public Service is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization “that seeks to bring a new level of transparency, accountability and integrity to all levels of government in the United States.” Boxer is the chair of the Senate Select Committee on Ethics.

The specific property FEPS is referring to is an Oakland, California, home valued at over a million dollars and co-owned by Boxer, her husband Stewart, their son Douglas, and his wife Amy. The letter to Holder reads in part:

Despite the fact that Senator Boxer had an ownership in 854 Longridge Road [in Oakland], she failed to report this substantial real property asset on any of her personal financial disclosures between 2002 and 2010. She had also failed to report the mortgage on the property. Further, she failed to report the purchase of 854 Longridge Road in 2002. Each year Boxer was required to have filed a “full and complete report.”

The filing of false or incomplete disclosure statements is in violation of the Ethics in Government Act. The Act authorizes the Attorney General of the United States to seek civil penalties against Senators who knowingly and willfully falsify or fail to report required information. The knowing and willful concealment of the existence of substantial amount of real property for a prolonged period may subject Senators to federal criminal prosecution under 18 U.S.C. paragraph 101. The Oakland home is currently lived in by Douglas and his wife. This is not the first time Senator Boxer’s son has been the center of controversy. The senator reportedly paid out nearly $500,000 from her campaign contributions to her son’s public relations firm between 2001 and 2009. Those moneys could have been used to pay off the mortgage on the Oakland property, adding urgency to the DOJ investigation sought by The Foundation for Ethics in Public Service and further complicating the legal and ethical issues involved.

IL Senate: Family bank good for Giannoulias' taxes, bad for his campaign

The Democrat candidate and friend of Obama, Giannoulias, has already learned to lie in order not to pay taxes. Just think what he could do if elected to the Senate. We already know he approved loans to the mob and now we find out he scammed the IRS by claiming hours he worked at the bank while telling people on the campaign trail he no longer worked there.  Guess you could call this typical Chicago style politics.

We love this part:

Most recently, Kirk criticized Giannoulias for trying to claim he wasn't involved in the bank when Broadway approved a controversial loan for a project headed by Rezko, who was convicted in the federal corruption probe of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's administration. Giannoulias' answer has been that he wasn't involved in the bank when the loan was approved in February 2006.

In the recent interview, Giannoulias acknowledged that while he was still at Broadway when that loan was approved, he was only involved in closing out his existing accounts and knew nothing about any new loans.

"For loans like the one you're talking about (Rezko) where I had nothing to do with or my name was never on it, I don't think there's any inconsistencies," he said.

According to Giannoulias he had nothing to do with the Rezko loan and then added his name wasn't on the paperwork? Anyone want to buy the Brooklyn Bridge? Friend of Rezko, friend of Obama, and friend of Chicago Dems and he wants everyone to believe because his name was not on the loan, he didn't even know about it. If I remember right the VP of the bank who got us our mortgage didn't have his name on the paperwork either.

Last thing the US Senate needs is someone like Giannoulias who never knows anything about corruption that surrounds him.

U.S. Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias tells voters he was gone from his troubled family bank by late 2005, but that's not what he told the Internal Revenue Service.

Giannoulias was able to take a $2.7 million tax deduction last year because he reported working hundreds of hours at Broadway Bank in 2006.

Giannoulias says there's no contradiction, and in fact there is no suggestion the Democratic state treasurer took a tax break he didn't deserve. Rather, the issue highlights the fine line Giannoulias walks on the campaign trail in explaining exactly what he did at Broadway and when he did it.

The bank was at the top of his résumé when he was a 30-year-old first-time statewide candidate in 2006 with few professional highlights. But in his tight Senate race against Republican Mark Kirk, his tenure as a senior loan officer at Broadway is a bull's-eye for critics who hit him for the bank's loans to mob figures as well as troubled lending that contributed to Broadway's collapse earlier this year.


Saying he left in 2005 gives Giannoulias maximum distance from the bank's questionable lending practices, the April takeover by federal regulators and other controversies such as a loan by the bank to convicted influence peddler Antoin "Tony" Rezko in early 2006.

But by reporting that he worked at least 500 hours at Broadway in 2006, Giannoulias was able to get a break that helped him avoid paying federal income tax for 2009.

Giannoulias said he has been clear that he left the "day-to-day" operations of the bank in September 2005 to prepare his first run for public office, but was on paid leave until May 2006 when he left completely to campaign full time for treasurer.

That 2006 work consisted of roughly 30 hours a week closing out his responsibilities before quitting as a bank officer, and didn't involve making new loans, Giannoulias explained in a recent interview. It was more than enough to qualify him for the tax break, he said.

IRS regulations allow taxpayers to deduct business losses from certain types of corporations if they've logged significant hours there for five of the last 10 years. Giannoulias started at the bank in 2002, so working at least 500 hours in 2006 qualifies Giannoulias for the tax break.

Before leaving day-to-day operations in September 2005, "I was there, I think I worked seven days a week," Giannoulias said.

Asked what he was doing at the bank in early 2006, Giannoulias said, "I think the biggest difference is I wasn't taking on new customers. I was just finishing up what I needed to do, so I don't know how the hours worked out, but it wasn't a full-time job.

Greene (SC Dem Senate Candidate) indicted on obscenity charges

What is wrong with the Democrat voters of South Carolina? You would have thought they would have wanted a better candidate to run against the popular Senator DeMint (R-SC). Doubt if the National Democrat Senatorial Committee had planned to spend much money in this race in the beginning. Now they have a much larger problem as Greene has now been indicted.

What are the Democrats going to do? Allow him to remain on the ballot and not say anything or try to remove him at which time it sets off a firestorm. Remember a certain party in 2006 and 2008 that labeled Republicans the Party of Corruption when some scandals broke. Now the shoe is on the other foot.

How many Congressional Democrats have decided not to run with a scandal hanging over them? We know two of them with Ethics Charges are fighting the ethics charges to stay in office -- Cong Rangel and Waters. A long time Democrat Rep was turned out in Detroit last month in the primary because of problems with her son, the Mayor of Detroit. Voters in Michigan had it with the family and corruption.

Greene indicted on obscenity charges

(CNN) -- U.S. Senate nominee Alvin Greene, a political unknown who became the surprise winner of the South Carolina Democratic primary, was indicted Friday by a grand jury on obscenity charges.

Greene was indicted on one felony count of "disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity," according to the Richland County clerk of courts.

He was also indicted on a misdemeanor count of "communicating an obscene message to another person without consent."

Greene told CNN Senior Political Editor Mark Preston that his lawyer "is dealing" with the indictments.

Greene was charged by police last November with showing pornographic material to a female University of South Carolina student on a computer in the school's library.

The alleged incident occurred on November 4.

Greene, according to a report from university police, told the student "to look at his computer screen."

The alleged victim claimed she told Greene that the image displayed on the screen "was offensive and not funny."

She also claimed Greene asked if he could come to her room.

U.S. Rep Alan Grayson, D-Orlando, walked in on an Orange County Republican Executive Committee meeting Thursday night at a Perkins restaurant and got into a confrontation with county mayoral candidate Matthew Falconer, a tense face-off caught by a couple cell phone cameras.

In the video, Grayson reads from a flier that describes a recent Republican infiltration of a pro-Obama group, and a promise to dish those details at this next GOP meeting. Grayson chides the Republican attendees for sinking so low as to spy on the other side.

Today, Grayson said he was attending a community home owner’s association meeting in another part of the restaurant that night, and decided to share his displeasure with the contents of the flier with the GOP party members.

“That’s political dirty tricks,” Grayson said today. “I went over to find out what their side of the story was, and whether they approved of that.”

Soon after he finishes reading the flier, Falconer demands Grayson apologize to Lew Oliver for what he said about him in a recent email: “Oliver couldn’t find his rear end with both hands, unless there was a twenty-dollar bill sticking out of it.” Falconer and Grayson encourage one another to leave in a pretty heated face-to-face.

“I gave them a chance to explain how they felt about it, and they didn’t do a very good job,” Grayson said today. “The Republican Party is resorting to its Nixonian roots: corruption, lying and spying.”

We have a new word to add to the Democrat vocabulary of what they call Republicans -- 'knuckle-dragging Neanderthals' added to racist, and members of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. We are sure there are more. The Congressional Democrats continue to show a lack of class. Wonder if Grayson would have been elected without ACORN voter fraud? Grayson is working his way up the list of GOP targets for 2010 with his comments. Time for 'Neanderthal Republicans' to send Grayson to the Unemployment Line in 2010.

When is Pelosi going to ask that the House vote on the actions of Grayson on the floor of the House like she did Wilson? I wouldn't hold my breath!

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Freshman Congressman Alan Grayson refused to back down Wednesday from controversial remarks he made on the House floor the night before saying the Republican health care plan calls for sick people to "die quickly."

In fact, Grayson — a Democrat who represents a central Florida swing district that includes Orlando — made another floor speech in which he apologized to the dead and their families for not acting sooner on health care reform, and then defended both speeches on CNN's "The Situation Room."
