Ralph Reed's Conservative Group Claims Obama Has ‘Communist Beliefs,’ Compares His Policies To Hitler’s

Every time I think that Republicans cannot stoop any lower, along comes Ralph Reed and his 'survey' which should be roundly condemned but he is a 'friend' of Mitt so most Republicans are sticking their heads in the sand once again.

Every day the hard right is making it much harder for those of us center right to remain Republicans.  Count this as another one of those check marks.  Read this survey and ask yourself how any Christian could possibly put out this trash but this is Ralph Reed who is tied to the Abramoff scandal.

Usually not at a loss for words but trying to find the words that register my utter disgust toward Ralph Red and his group are hard to find.

A conservative religious group is sending its members a ‘survey’ that compares President Obama’s policies to those of Nazi Germany, and asserts that the President has “communist beliefs.” 

The mailer, a product of the Faith and Freedom coalition, is titled the “Voter Registration Confirmation Survey.” But its questions have little to do with registering to vote. Rather, the survey asks a host of leading inquries into how its members view the President’s record.
The options prompt the most extreme answers — with very few moderate or supportive possibilities: 

As Mother Jones, who obtained the survey, points out, the Faith and Freedom coalition and particularly its head Ralph Reed are leading the effort to turn out Evangelical voters for Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign. The group plans to spend over $10 million for this purpose.

Romney has praised Reed for his turnout efforts, saying, “Ralph Reed is doing a great job here with the Faith & Freedom Coalition. This is going to make a big impact across America and I appreciate the work you are doing here.” The Presidential candidate even gave Reed the ultimate honor of sharing a hotel with him during the convention.

GOP Strategy Revealed -- Three Prong Attack

This video comes from MoveOn.org, but before anyone says you cannot believe what they say, the facts in this video checks out.  Many of their facts have been reported and sourced on this site and others. This is a strange election where sites I thought I could believe don't think twice about lying today if it will get Romney votes. When you fact check those sites, you discover, they are stretching the truth or outright lying for Romney and Congressional Republicans/Candidates. Yet when you go to more progressive sites, you find sourced truth about what is happening.

Anyone who thinks the Republican Party is not trying to do voter suppression is not paying attention. When I watched this video, was taken back about the facts from an organization I have been led to believe over the years never told the truth. Looks like that is another one of those lies Republicans have been fed over the years. Facts speak for themselves.


Someday I am going to have to do a post apologizing for having my head buried in the sand of Republican Party lies. Karl Rove IMHO may be the worst thing to ever happen to the Republican Party with his win at any cost mantra. What I want to know is why people I thought were honest are so dishonest in the Congress to obstruct bills that would help the American people so they can help make Obama a one term President. 

Blinders are off -- I detest what I am seeing out of the Republican Party where in Ohio the Secretary of State at one time this summer was going to give longer voting hours in a Republican County then a Democrat County. In Ohio, the State GOP is admitting voter suppression is aimed at minorities. Judges in four states are rejecting GOP plans for voter suppression including Ohio, Florida, Texas, and Wisconsin.  Then you have Pennsylvania where their Supreme Court heard the case this week on the difficulty of obtaining a photo ID card.  Most telling was a justice holding up the ID that is used to get into secure areas of the court house by justices with a picture that cannot be used because it doesn't have an expiration date.  The PA actions are even worse because the Republican Leader, as you see on this video, declares this new law would elect Mitt Romney.  How stupid was that?

Time for common sense and honest Republicans to make our voices heard that we are NOT going to put up with what we are seeing out of Republican elected members of the Congress who put Party and desire to make Obama a one-term President over America and what was in the best interest of the American people.  I can say shame on them, but then it would take a conscience to feel shame.  Looks like many of them have also thrown their conscience out the window in order to support Mitt Romney who decided the night of the election in 2008 that he was running for President.  He then went to the task of lining up the usual people like Karl Rove because they share the 'win at any cost' mentality and are more then willing to step out and accuse the opponent of what they are doing.  Then to top it off on Inauguration night for President Obama, a group of Congressional Republicans along with the Gingrich and Luntz met to plot the best strategy  for making Obama a one-term President.  The man had just been inaugurated and their were plotting how to obstruct his plans.

Is this the new Republican Party dedicated to electing Mitt Romney devoid of integrity and honesty?    Have always thought if the fringe right of social conservatives and now Tea Party ever took over, the Republican Party as most of us knew it was going change drastically tracking to the far right.  That looks to have happened in 2012, but in reality it has been building over the years looking back.  The far right in the party has never been known for being the truth tellers of the Party.  Now men and women in the Congress we thought stood for something play to this fringe element like they are afraid to take them on.  I call that being a 'coward' who goes along to get along!  Is Koch Brothers and other big donor money the driving force?  If that is the case, the word 'sellout' comes to mind along with 'coward.'

Senator Snowe (R-ME) has had enough of the far right and their demands as she is retiring  at the end of her term in January from the train wreck which is the far right Republicans in the Senate.  Today's Republicans are now tracking to the  far right becoming obstructionists to any cooperation with the Democrats or Independents in the Senate.  When a Republican Senator works across the aisle for the benefit of all Americans, they get called names and castigated by the conservative pundits and far right Republicans of today.

We need more citizen legislators like Freshman Cong Lankford from the Oklahoma 5th District who was willing to work with other House Members of both parties to get the road and bridge bill passed in the House that Senators Infofe (R-OK) and Boxer (D-CA) had spent so much time working on in the Senate. Took a long time to pass the House, but Cong Lankford never quit on the bill.  It brought needed road/bridge construction funds to the states along with jobs.  Shows what happens when both sides work together for all Americans.

Now you know the GOP playbook -- win at any cost no matter who it hurts.  The Congressional Republicans for Mitt Romney's election have tanked the economy by not passing the bills that would help so now time to tank them on November 6th and vote for honest candidates no matter the party who will put America's interest over their Party. 

Republicans Plot Night of Pres Obama's Inauguration to Plot Making Him a One-Term President

Did they also cut a deal to make Romney the next candidate because of his money and donor ties?  They needed the money for 2010 so was Romney was the conduit?  How many Republicans have they lost who refuse to vote for Romney/Ryan over their shenanigans?  Betting the number is going up by the day with all the lies coming out of Republicans each and every day.

Last night when I heard Former President Bill Clinton talk about a meeting the night of the Inauguration of President Obama, I was shocked and decided this morning to find out what this was all about.  Remember these names of the people who had the audacity to meet on the night of President Obama's Inauguration to lay down the plans to make him a one-term President.  These people had no intention of working with the new President or for the American people:

Notably absent were Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) -- who, Draper writes, had an acrimonious relationship with Luntz. 

I can guarantee you that as a Republican for over 40 years, I would have quit the Republican Party in 2009 if I knew about this.  Instead I helped elect some of the worst candidates ever in other states in 2010 and swallowed the koolaid on the Ryan budget since his wife was from Oklahoma -- he seemed like a stand-up guy.  He was not a stand-up guy but someone from the far right that I used to get in arguments with on Free Republic as an active poster under the name "PhiKapMom."

In 2007, it came out in a Washington paper that I was part of the purge on Free Republic because I wasn't posting but I was in FL for my granddaughter's birthday and then going to Chicago for a visit with my new grandson.  Now that I look back with what I know now, it is beginning to make sense.  The purge showed how more common sense conservatives were already being destroyed by the far right.  Learned when I got back about the purge and the new websites that had formed.  Didn't understand it then, but do today -- the leadership of the Republican Party did not want voices of reason speaking out on websites.  Do I believe they sent out their minions to do the job?  Absolutely!

I was not part of the purge but never felt the same about a site that I had trusted for years and it culminated in my not posting much after 2008 since I had supported Rudy and didn't feel welcome so they might as well have purged me.  I would support Rudy all over again because he had some very good ideas and could care less about the social issues.  The 'my way or no way' crowd finally made me stop and realize they were too far right for me.  I don't remember the last time I even read the site but I am sure their posters would agree with this article from April which I missed because of being gone.

Cannot even tell you the contempt I have for this group since I helped get some of them elected.  Was told several years ago that Senator Jim Inhofe was one of the few honest people in the Congress -- like him or detest him -- he says what he thinks.  Knew something was wrong earlier this summer when he was talking about working with Senator Barbara Boxer on the Transportation bill to bring jobs to states and start to fix the infrastructure and had some harsh words for House Republicans.  I never thought I would see him working with Boxer or her with him.  Both put their partisanship aside for the good of Americans -- what a novel idea in this partisan Congress.  (sarcasm)

Senators Inhofe (R-OK) and Boxer (D-CA) along with Cong Lankford (R-OK) and other House members from both parties of the House Transportation Committee worked to get the bill passed in the House where the bill was being stalled.  The House was failing to act on the Transportation Bill that would bring jobs and help fix our infrastructure.  Can remember the frustration here in Oklahoma from these two members of Congress at how slow this bill was progressing when it should have been a slam dunk.   Finally on 28 June the House got a clue they had better act on the Transportation bill to help America by passing the bill with 55 Republicans and 108 Democrats in the House voting against the bill which was signed into law by the President the end of June.  With all the road construction going on in the states, would say between the stimulus and this House bill anyone who wants a job in road construction can find one.

Senators Inhofe and Boxer showed what can happen when you do put political partisanship aside and work for the good of all Americans.  Shame more members of Congress don't share their willingness to work together across the aisle putting partisan gamesmanship aside for the good of the American people. WASHINGTON -- As President Barack Obama was celebrating his inauguration at various balls, top Republican lawmakers and strategists were conjuring up ways to submarine his presidency at a private dinner in Washington. 

The event -- which provides a telling revelation for how quickly the post-election climate soured -- serves as the prologue of Robert Draper's much-discussed and heavily-reported new book, "Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives." 

According to Draper, the guest list that night (which was just over 15 people in total) included Republican Reps. Eric Cantor (Va.), Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), Paul Ryan (Wis.), Pete Sessions (Texas), Jeb Hensarling (Texas), Pete Hoekstra (Mich.) and Dan Lungren (Calif.), along with Republican Sens. Jim DeMint (S.C.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Ensign (Nev.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.). For several hours in the Caucus Room (a high-end D.C. establishment), the book says they plotted out ways to not just win back political power, but to also put the brakes on Obama's legislative platform. 

"If you act like you're the minority, you're going to stay in the minority," Draper quotes McCarthy as saying. "We've gotta challenge them on every single bill and challenge them on every single campaign." 

The conversation got only more specific from there, Draper reports. Kyl suggested going after incoming Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner for failing to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes while at the International Monetary Fund. Gingrich noted that House Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) had a similar tax problem. McCarthy chimed in to declare "there's a web" before arguing that Republicans could put pressure on any Democrat who accepted campaign money from Rangel to give it back. 

The dinner lasted nearly four hours. They parted company almost giddily. The Republicans had agreed on a way forward: 

Go after Geithner. (And indeed Kyl did, the next day: ‘Would you answer my question rather than dancing around it—please?’) 

Show united and unyielding opposition to the president’s economic policies. (Eight days later, Minority Whip Cantor would hold the House Republicans to a unanimous No against Obama’s economic stimulus plan.) 

Begin attacking vulnerable Democrats on the airwaves. (The first National Republican Congressional Committee attack ads would run in less than two months.) 

Win the spear point of the House in 2010. Jab Obama relentlessly in 2011. Win the White House and the Senate in 2012. 

"You will remember this day," Draper reports Newt Gingrich as saying on the way out. "You’ll remember this as the day the seeds of 2012 were sown." 

Draper's timeline is correct. On Jan. 21, 2009, Kyl aggressively questioned Geithner during his confirmation hearings. On Jan. 28, 2009, House GOP leadership held the line against the stimulus package (Senate GOP leadership would prove less successful in stopping defections).
The votes, of course, can be attributed to legitimate philosophical objection to the idea of stimulus spending as well as sincere concern that the secretary of the Treasury should personally have a clean tax-paying record. But what Draper's book makes clear is that blunt electoral-minded ambitions were the animating force.

Whether or not that's shocking depends on the degree to which one's view of politics has been jaded. What's certainly noteworthy is the timing. When Mitch McConnell said in October 2010 that his party's primary goal in the next Congress was to make Obama a one-term president, it was treated as remarkably candid and deeply cynical. Had he said it publicly in January 2009, it would likely have caused an uproar.  

By extension, however, the Draper anecdote also negatively reflects on the Obama administration for failing to appreciate how quickly congressional Republicans would oppose the president's agenda.

The nerve of these Republican members of Congress to meet on the night of President Obama's Inauguration to plot on how to make him a one term President is shocking not to mention disgusting.  What has happened to today's members of the Republican Party who will put politics and the Party ahead of what is good for America?  Their stalling tactics are causing the recession to last longer then it should.  Hope they are very proud of themselves for what they have done to this Country.  If anyone has any doubts about why many of us are refusing to support Republicans in 2012, read the above story and see just how dishonest the leadership of the Republican Party has become.

Thanks to Clinton, I went back and dug up this story to showcase just how the obstruction in the House and Senate was planned from Day One.  No wonder Olympia Snowe is not running for reelection as she was known for working across the aisle for all Americans.  The hostile takeover of the Republican Party by the far right and Romney is making a lot of us stop and think about staying in a party that is so far right they have lost their moral compass on what is best for all Americans.

Their racist attacks on the President and others have not gone unnoticed.  The bigotry of the Republican Party today is on display for all to see as leaders made their comments and innuendos toward the President and then run out to apologize not understanding how anyone could think the comment was racist.  That is pure Bravo Sierra on the part of the Republican Party leadership and the conservative pundits like Rush who has gone so far over the top in this election only someone who wants to be a follower not a thinker could stand to listen to his rhetoric which now we learn was planned from Day One.

Think twice and then think again before voting for national Republicans in this election unless you know them personally because frankly this group in the House need to be defeated along with some Senators.  Hope in 2014 that Kentucky Republicans get a clue and retire Mitch McConnell for the use of the filibuster leading to a record number to stop bills that would have helped the economy.  Looks like this group of House and Senate leadership care more about the big donors then the middle class many of who are Republicans.

Is this all about keeping the tax cuts for the rich along with the loopholes so they can continue to take deductions for expenses for their offshore business adventures off their income tax but don't have to claim any income?  Waiting for the other shoe to drop on that one!

Romney’s ‘We Did Build This’ Events Feature Businesses Built With Government Subsidies And Contracts (OOPS!)

In my lifetime it is hard to remember a campaign that is so dishonest as that of Mitt Romney and so non-transparent.  What was the RNC and the so-called establishment thinking getting behind his nomination?  Was it the big donors because they (RNC) needed to fund the Convention and campaign?  Have news for them if they had held fair debates, same rules for all states in the primary, and not supported a culture of win at any costs for the Romney campaign including cheating, we wouldn't be at this spot today.  They would have had the money from honest donors who didn't want anything in return.

Anyone who says a businessman does everything on his own without help to build the business is a buffoon.  Romney told Olympic athletes that they had help which they all acknowledge.  He has given speeches about the help businesses receive from the Government and infrastructure.  Guess the businesses in today's Romney World are different because they did in all on their own using their own hands according to this ad:




OOPS!  There is a slight problem:

In “These Hands,” the Romney campaign repeated the out-of-context quote, “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else did that.” Jack Gilchrist, the owner of Gilchrist Metal Fabricating in Hudson, New Hampshire, incredulously asks, “My father’s hands didn’t build this company? My hands didn’t build this company? My son’s hands aren’t building this company? …Through hard work and a little bit of luck, we built this business. Why are you demonizing us for it?”  

In context, Obama’s speech was not “demonizing” small business owners but simply challenging the idea that wealthy and successful individuals have never benefited from government services.

And, as it turns out, Jack Gilchrist is no different. The New Hampshire Union Leader reports today that Gilchrist benefited from millions of dollars of government loans and contracts to get his business on its feet: 

In 1999, Gilchrist Metal received $800,000 in tax-exempt revenue bonds issued by the New Hampshire Business Finance Authority “to set up a second manufacturing plant and purchase equipment to produce high definition television broadcasting equipment,” according to a New Hampshire Union Leader report at the time…

Last year, Gilchrist Metal also received two U.S. Navy sub-contracts totaling about $83,000 and a smaller $5,600 Coast Guard contract in 2008, according to a government web site that tracks spending. 

The businessman now famous for the ad admits he did take Government help to build the business. Nothing wrong with that as that is what these programs are for but what is terribly wrong is to represent that you had no help and built the business with only your hands and hands of family members.  Guess his family built the building where  they are located only with their own hands as well.

Fox News and Rush Limbaugh led the Romney camp in the direction they wanted him to go even it was a total misstatement of what the President said due to the editing of Fox News.  It is like Limbaugh is a puppet for Fox News today and Romney is a puppet for Fox News and Rush.  Romney or his surrogates run out to make fools of themselves routinely parroting what Fox News or Rush has to say with no fact checking.  Fox News is about the last place I would quote today.  If you want to find investigative reporting with links, you now have to use more liberal sites.

It is simply mind boggling what has happened to Conservatives who are backing Romney.  They turn into pretzels and refuse to hear anything negative about the man or positive about Obama.  Facts don't matter today.  The people on the right who yelled the loudest about Obama not releasing his college records (he should have released them) are the ones turning into crickets on Romney's tax returns and Bain Capital.  We are not supposed to go after the "perfect" candidate in their minds.

Is this what happens to a political party when it is taken over by the followers of Ayn Rand, who make up a large portion of the far right and Tea Party, along with big donors like the Koch Brothers?  Truth doesn't matter, it is the narrative?

The Romney's "We Did Build This' Events are not exactly what they imagined as the info below points out.  Seems these business people rounded up by the Romney camp did have help which was exactly what President Obama was saying.  The Romney camp has proved Obama's points were correct when you get passed the redacted Fox News/Limbaugh spin:

Today, the Romney campaign is hosting an entire series of campaign events based on President Obama’s misinterpreted comment about small businesses. While Obama’s full speech made a “no man is an island” argument, the Romney campaign has seized on the quote, “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that” as evidence of Obama’s disdain for small business owners.

 Romney, ignoring the fact that he has echoed this same sentiment on multiple occasions, organized 24 “We Did Build This” events in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Mexico, and Nevada. At each event, local business owners are speaking about their self-sufficiency in running a business and how government is hindering their growth. 

But, like the New Hampshire business owner showcased in Romney’s attack ad on the issue, many of these business owners have received significant support from the government, a ThinkProgress analysis finds.

• Ball Office Products hosted the “We Did Build This” event in Richmond, Virginia. The company received a loan of $635,000 through the Small Business Administration in 2012, according to USASpending.gov. The company was also awarded a lucrative $52,525 contract with the General Services Administration just a year after its founding.

• Midwest Tape, a media distributor of Holland, Ohio, was showcased at a local event and has been contracted by the Department of Defense since 2008, earning a cumulative $13,659.

• Columbus Truck and Equipment was featured in a neighboring event and has received $6,643 in contracts with the Department of Defense.

• Cranston Material Handling Equipment Corporation, the owner of which spoke Wednesday morning at a campaign event in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has reaped a total of $61,729 in contracts with the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs since 2007.

• Systems Engineering Co.The owner of Systems Engineering has received a total of $180,200 in DOD contracts, as recently as last year.

• Brady Industries in Las Vegas has received $54,425 in contracts with Veterans Affairs since 2009.

• Pennsylvania business PRL Industries Inc. received a $167,847 contract through the Department of Homeland Security for ship and boat propulsion components for the U.S. Coast Guard in August 2008. Janis Herschkowitz, who spoke on behalf of PRL, Inc. used to be a director of the National Consumer Cooperative Bank, which, defined in Herschkowitz’ own words, was created by Congress “to meet personal, social or business needs, especially in low- and moderate-income communities by forming cooperatives.”

• An Iowa event featured Competitive Edge, Inc. which was contracted by Veterans Affairs for $3,543 to make informational refrigerator magnets.

• J & W Cycles of Missouri was awarded $25,808 in contracts from the DOD and Department of Interior.

• Total Resource, featured in a Sparks, Nevada campaign event, has been a federal contractor since 2010, and received a $11,200 contract from the DOD in 2009.

• Applegate Insulation, which hosted one of the events in Michigan, benefited from an energy saving federal tax credit worth 30 percent of the installation project, up to $1,500.

• Home Instead Senior Care supported Romney in Roanoke, Virginia, even though home health care companies receive 75 percent of their funding from public programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Home Instead franchises in Virginia have received at least $3,613,549 in federal funding through the Department of Veterans Affairs since 2008. Chris Head, who represented Home Instead at the event, has previously lamented the low Medicaid reimbursement rates in Virginia and told the Roanoke Times that he wished state funding had helped save the now-defunct local Mill Mountain Theatre.

• Ed Nagle of Nagle Trucking in Ohio also took issue with Obama’s speech, which mentioned roads and bridges as examples of essential government support. But less than a year ago, Nagle protested an idea to privatize the Ohio Turnpike, noting that the privatized Indiana toll road “has diminished in its quality and it’s become a lot more expensive.”

While the “We Did Build This” event was intended to “allow small business owners the chance to respond to President Obama’s claim,” it is clear that many of these owners exemplify the combined powers of individual effort and government support that Obama — and Romney — have praised.

Once again Romney and his campaign are proving to the American people they will say and do anything for votes even knowing it was a lie from Fox News and Rush Limbaugh that started this.  It is the narrative which the Romney campaign plays by and in the process have thrown truth and honesty out the window with the win at any cost mentality.
