"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men
from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

FY 2011 Budget Passed the House 260-167

The budget bill for FY11 brokered by Speaker Boehner passed the House this afternoon with 179 Republicans and 81 Democrats voting Yes and 59 Republicans and 108 Democrats voting No.

Extremely happy to report that our Oklahoma delegation of Cong Boren (D), Cole (R), Langford (R), Lucas (R), and Sulivan (R) all voted for the budget resolution for FY11. Now the Tea Party can threaten to primary our whole delegation like they have been doing in other areas but it won't work here or in most places. Most 'common sense' Republicans are sick and tired of the threats from a small group of people at the national level and only a few at the state level.

Five and a half months after the FY11 budget was supposed to be in place on 1 October there is a budget bill going to the Senate. One of the primary responsibilities of the House is to get a budget passed but Pelosi and her leadership didn't even both putting a real budget together as we all know. The Federal Government has been staying in business thanks to continuing resolutions.

Remember when they moved the start of the fiscal year from 1 July to 1 October to give more time to get a budget in place. It still didn't work as now the FY11 budget was passed on 14 April 2012 5 1/2 months later after it was supposed to go into effect.

Today was a record day as the House also passed:
HR 223:  Providing for consideration of the concurrent resolution (H. Con. Res. 34) establishing the budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2012 and setting forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2013 through 2021

Final vote totals for that bill were 238 Republicans and 5 Democrats Yes and 181 Democrats No
