"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men
from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

McCain will ask Congress for Guard at border if President won't

Arizona has asked for National Guard along the Border, the National Guard is ready to go to the Border, but yet this President and the Secretary of Homeland Security, former Governor of Arizona Napolitano are not ordering the Guard to the Border. WHY?

Another problem is the Wilderness Act being stringently enforced by this Administration is allowing illegals to come across the border into these areas of Arizona where the local Sheriff and Police are not allowed to go after them with vehicles. Does this Administration want illegals in this Country in hopes they will eventually become Democrat voters? It is beginning to look like it more every day. No one here illegally should ever be allowed to become a citizen since they broke the law.

The #1 priority of this Administration should be securing the Borders but instead we keep hearing how we need to grant amnesty. No we don't. If you are here illegally then return to your home country and apply to come legally to the United States. No more babies born in this Country to parents from a foreign county should be granted American citizenship. That was a dumb move at the time and completely unnecessary.

Thanks to Senators McCain and Kyl for continuing the fight to secure the borders and stop illegals from crossing into the United States. Their 10-Point Plan for Border Security is what Arizona and other border states need to secure the border with Mexico.

Time that Congress appropriated money to finish the fence and the INS security stations along the fence. It worked in El Paso and now time to finish building the fence along the total border. Instead of Obama worrying about amnesty for illegals, he should be pushing for finishing the building of the fence and stop illegals from crossing which by his inaction to repeated requests for National Guard troops by Senator McCain and others has shown he could care less if illegals come into this Country.

Until that border is secured everything else should be off the table except strict enforcement of laws on the books. Senator McCain has been fighting for Border Security for a long time, but it has fallen on deaf ears. With violence escalating in Mexico along the border, it is mandatory we secure our Borders and do it NOW!

WASHINGTON, DC (KGUN9-TV) A bold move from Senator John McCain: he tells 9 On Your Side he'll go through Congress to get National Guard troops to the border, if the president won't make it happen.

Drug smugglers shooting and wounding Pinal County Deputy Louie Puroll last Friday---and someone killing Cochise County rancher Robert Krenz March 27 have cranked up the pressure for better border security.

The White House and Homeland Security are not answering our questions about whether they'll call for troops.

Now, Senator John Mc Cain says if the President won't send the National Guard, he and Senator Jon Kyl will try to do it without him.

"We would much prefer that the President and the Secretary of Homeland Security would give the order," he says. The head of the National Guard was quoted today as saying his Guard members are ready to go if they're ordered to go to the border."

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu was already on board the Senator's call for 3000 Guardsmen.

"When have you ever seen law enforcement leaders, and nearly every one in Pinal County say that we need actual soldiers?"

Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever is calling for the National Guard; so is Mc Cain's Republican opponent JD Hayworth.

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords has been calling for troops, and so has the Arizona Cattlemen's Association.

Senator Mc Cain says if Congress sends the National Guard it will have to include the order as part of some complex Defense bills. He says that could take a couple of months.

"We will be acting legislatively not only on the troops at the border but for money for Operation Stonegarden, for more surveillance systems, more UAVs, more radio communications, additional Border patrol stations. There's a number of additional provisions that have to be enacted in order to fully implement a plan that could secure our border."

When Senator McCain mentions Operation Stonegarden he's talking about a program to gives local police and sheriff's departments overtime pay for officers on border related duty.

Late Wednesday, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' office said she met today with Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano and many other players in the border security issue---pushing for a stronger federal response to border security.
