"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men
from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

Scott Campaign Responds To Alex Sink’s Energy Plan and Bush Tax Cut Hypocrisy

We are not going to hold our breath waiting for Sink to return all the campaign dollars that Obama raised for her campaign. At the same time she was dissing his visit due to a 'scheduling' conflict she was more than willing to take the money from the fundraiser. Her spin that she had scheduled something else was a joke as anyone who knows anything about fundraisers knows they are scheduled far enough in advance and coordinated with a candidate's schedule. Sure glad Florida voters are not as gullible as she thinks they are -- her spin is not working as she is still the same progressive, liberal Obama supporter she was before HIS poll numbers went south.

UPDATE, 4:55, Sep 7, 2010:

Scott Campaign Responds To Sink Campaign Advertisement

Fort Lauderdale, FL – Today, Rep. Jennifer Carroll, the Republican candidate for Lt. Governor, responded to Obama liberal Alex Sink’s latest advertisement where she attempts to distance herself from President Obama’s job killing policies despite her record of support for the President and his liberal agenda.

Jennifer Carroll said, “In her new ad, Alex Sink dodges responsibility for the damage done to Florida by her support for Obama's liberal agenda. If Chief Financial Officer Sink wants to repudiate her support for Obama, she can start by returning all the campaign cash he has raised for her.”
________

Today Alex Sink, the liberal progressive Democrat, is now in favor on keeping the Bush Tax Cuts and running away again from the Obama agenda on taxes? How dumb does she think voters are in Florida? Anyone swallowing her epiphany on Tax Cuts needs to contact us about swampland for sale in Arizona. Democrats are running away from the Obama agenda all over the Country. What is the saying that "he can run but they cannot hide" made famous by American Box Joe Louis. In this case it is "she can run but Sink cannot hide" from her support of Obama and his agenda.

UPDATE, 3:00 p.m. 9/7/10: Scott Campaign Statement On Alex Sink’s Bush Tax Cut Hypocrisy
Fort Lauderdale, FL – The Scott campaign released the following statement on Alex Sink’s hypocrisy on taxes.

Scott campaign spokesman Chad Colby said, “Alex Sink campaigned with Obama at the same time he was calling for the repeal the Bush tax cuts. Now, she can't run away fast enough from his tax policy. Only in an election year do liberals realize that more taxes kill jobs. Floridians won't be fooled by election year conversions -- especially 2 months before election day.

“Furthermore, Sink is on the record in support of Obamacare while at the same time saying she doesn’t support Medicare cuts. It is clear she thinks the political debate is an al a carte menu where she can pick and choose the issues that work to her advantage. Unfortunately, she and her Obama liberal allies can’t run from the policies they support- policies that have harmed the Florida economy and cost the state jobs.”

Background

Peter Orszag Says Obamacare Includes “Substantial” Reductions In Medicare Spending “The health reform act included substantial savings in Medicare and Medicaid, so there aren’t further big reductions available there in our time frame.” (Orszag, Peter, “One Nation, Two Deficits,” The New York Times, 9/7/10)
___________

Alex Sink is another tax and spent liberal progressive in the same mold of Obama and the Democrats in Congress. We are not surprised considering she has been a member of Emily's List which is hardcore liberal. That said, we actually thought she might try to run to the center in the campaign since she ran away from appearing with Obama during a South Florida fundraiser to benefit her campaign and the Democrats in Florida.  She is so liberal, it would be hard to fool most voters.

Once again we have a progressive liberal Sink wanting federal money to use for energy. Will someone please tell these progressives that the 'federal money' they like to spend are our tax dollars now and way into the future of our children and grandchildren. Taxing oil and gas is not going to grow jobs but instead destroy jobs. Guess the progressives like Sink have never figured out that when you drill for oil and gas there are many jobs created but if you tax the oil profits, they will have less money to reinvest which means less jobs.

Rick Scott is right about the way to create jobs and grow the economy in Florida with his 777 Plan -- 7 Steps. 700,000 New Jobs. 7 Years.

Once against the liberal, progressive Democrat Sink wants to rely on Government handouts (our tax dollars) and taxing oil and gas business owners as her plan to grow jobs in energy.   That's no plan but typical Democrat rhetoric.

Scott Campaign Responds To Alex Sink’s Energy Plan
Sep 7, 2010

Fort Lauderdale, FL – Today, the Scott Campaign released the following statement in response to Alex Sink’s energy speech in Delray Beach.
Joe Kildea, Scott Campaign spokesperson, said, “Just like the stimulus, Alex Sink is making a false claim that her leftist energy proposals will create jobs. From raising taxes on utilities to dependence on federal spending, when the rubber meets the road, Alex Sink is right in line with her fellow Obama liberals and promoting policies that will only cost more jobs. As governor, Rick will work toward energy independence from foreign oil with the expansion of nuclear power, the use of alternative fuels and ensure that we can drill for oil safely.”

Sink Plan Looks To “Leverag[e] Investments From The Federal Government” “To specifically target and encourage new energy industry growth, Sink's plan includes the creation of energy finance districts, boosting partnerships between our university faculty and private industry, and leveraging investments from the federal government and private capital for new and renewable energy initiatives.” (Press Release, “Alex Sink Endorsed by Leading Renewable Energy Industry Groups, Highlights New Energy As Key to New Economy,” Alex Sink For Governor, 9/7/10)

In 1997, Sink Backed An Expansion Of A 2.5% Gross Receipts Tax On Utilities:

In 1997, The Governor’s Commission On Education – Of Which Sink Was A Member – Recommended Adding A 2.5% Tax To Several Utilities To Fund School Construction. “The Governor's Commission on Education, which includes some of Florida's most prominent business people, recommended Thursday that the state expand a utilities tax used for school construction. The 2.5 percent tax, now charged on the gross receipts of electricity, natural and manufactured gas and telecommunication services also would be applied to water, sewer, cable and solid waste utilities. … Among the [Commission] members are Richard Nunis, chairman of Walt Disney Attractions; Stewart Turley, chairman of Eckerd Corp.; Alvin R. Carpenter, president of CSX Transportation; and Alex Sink, president of Florida Banking Group for NationsBank.” (Diane Rado, “Commission: Expand Tax To Build More Schools,” St. Petersburg Times, 2/28/97)

The Commission’s Proposal Recommended Phasing In The Tax Over Five Years. “Under the proposal, the tax on those services would be phased in over five years, beginning with 0.5 percent in October. (Diane Rado, “Commission: Expand Tax To Build More Schools,” St. Petersburg Times, 2/28/97)

But Sink Wanted To Implement The Tax All At Once. “Sink pushed the group to take a stronger stand Thursday, saying their recommendation should be to impose the utilities tax all at once. ‘We ought to say we have a crisis, and this is what we really think should happen,’ she said. ‘If the politics go the other way, so be it.’ … But Sink's recommendation failed on an 18-12 vote.” (Diane Rado, “Commission: Expand Tax To Build More Schools,” St. Petersburg Times, 2/28/97)
