"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men
from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

Larsen Sidesteps Questions on Health Care, For Now

By Evan at August 4th, 2009.

As we reported late last month, U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen is catching flack from all sides of the health care debate. Some in his district are patently outraged by his lack of support for proposals made by Democratic colleagues.

One letter writer to the Bellingham Herald today accused Larsen of being beholden to lobbyists.

Back in the district, Larsen again faced questions about his stance on health care reform. This time, speaking to veterans, the 2nd District Congressman refused to answer questions altogether:

“You’re at the wrong meeting if you’re here to talk about health care.”

Larsen has reason to be on guard: other Democratic colleagues in the NW who support the public plan have increasingly faced criticism from hostile audiences.

Rick Larson's (D-WA) website for the House of Representatives tells a different story as noted below:

Share your thoughts on health care reform

I believe that reforming our health care system to expand coverage and reduce the cost of health care for families and businesses is a critical priority for our country. As Congress tackles health care reform, I want to hear from you. Is your family having trouble getting the care they need under the current system? Is the rising cost of health cost hurting your small business?

What would you like to see included in health care reform?

So which is it Mr. Larson? You want people to share their thoughts on health care reform as long as it is by email but you don't want to face them in person with their questions and comments on healthcare? We think the San Diego Chicken would be a fine addition to your meetings.

Is Mr. Larson bought and paid for by Pelosi and Obama when he won't even discuss healthcare to see where his constituents stand on the issue? Is Larson another Democrat added to the list that knows what's best for his constituents and ignores the fact that he works for them not the other way around? Arrogance knows no bounds in this group of Democrats in Congress this session.

Time to send Mr. Larson to the Unemployment line in 2010.
