"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men
from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

Obama ousts General McChrystal over Remarks - General Petreaus rumored to be his replacement

UPDATE, 12:48 p.m.: General Petreaus rumored to be his replacement according to a Fox News Report plus other news outlets are reporting the same thing. Troops will be happier in Afghanistan.

****

This is not surprising as McChrystal left little choice with the interview in Rolling Stone. The fact that McChrystal allowed the reporter to get so close in less than 48 hours time when no one knew him was a warning flag and it went downhill from there. We understand McChrystal's frustration in how the war is progressing but the Rules of Engagement are pretty plain that they favor the civilian population and our military has one hand tied behind their back. That is what McChrystal should have taken a stand over in our opinion. Instead he chose to allow a reporter from Rolling Stone inside his circle. Bad judgement.

Obama ousts Gen. McChrystal over remarks

President Obama ousted his top commander in Afghanistan on Wednesday after officials determined that comments he and his staff made in a Rolling Stone magazine article amounted to insubordination.

The decision to remove Army Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal puts the war effort in Afghanistan in a precarious position. The Pentagon now must find a new leader to execute a complicated strategy with only a few months in which show results to adhere to Obama's timetable.

But officials concluded that keeping McChrystal in his job was not viable after he and his staff were quoted making comments that denigrated U.S. civilian leaders who oversee the war effort.
