This quote was sent to us along with the link to this news story about oil containment booms sitting in a warehouse waiting for the US or BP to use them all the while the oil gushing into the Gulf was happening with little to nothing being done to stop the flow.
"Smart Government leaving containment booms sitting in a warehouse while the Gulf bleeds oil -- guess it doesn't pay to live in red state under the current government."This Obama Government has allowed the BP oil to continue flow into the Gulf and now it is washing up on the Gulf Coast in an ecological disaster all the while the necessary booms were waiting in a warehouse in Maine. WHY? What was to be gained by allowing the booms to just sit there? Those of us in Red State America are starting to ask if the Obama Government is treating us like second or third class citizens. Beginning to look like illegal aliens are treated better by Obama and his Administration than those of us in Red State America.

John Lapoint of Packgen in Auburn, Maine, says he’s got plenty of floating oil containment boom and can make lots more on short notice. There’s just one problem: no one will buy it from him.
He’s already had a representative from BP visit his factory and inspect his product. The governor of Maine, John Baldacci, visited the facility and made a video plea to no one in particular to close the deal. Maine Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins wrote a letter on May 21 to the secretary of the Interior, the administrator of NOAA, and the commandant of the Coast Guard to alert them to the existence of Packgen, their supply of boom, and their demonstrated capacity to make more. I have no idea if those are the correct persons and agencies to notify about the manufacturing capacity and the availability of boom. One wonders if the senators know.

Project Vote Smart is a non-profit, non-partisan research service dedicated to providing nonbiased information to citizens regarding whose running for and serving in public office. You are correct that Wikipedia is not a good source as anyone can change the information and why colleges don't allow the use of Wiki as a source for research on papers. I can go in and change Wiki if I wanted to and so can anyone else.
There are any number of sites who have looked into the connection and all come up with the same information as below:

I am simply trying to get the point across that the two organizations are not the same organization. One is an advocacy organization and the other is a non-profit attempting to offer non-biased information to educate voters regarding ALL candidates.
