"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men
from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."
(Thomas Jefferson)

God Bless America!

On this Sunday morning, please ask God's blessings on America and the members of Congress who are meeting to negotiate on the debt ceiling. America is too important to the world to allow the United States to default on our obligations at midnight, August 2, 2011. Now is the time for both sides to pray for a solution where America wins. This is about doing the right thing to do to ensure that America remains strong and pays her debts on time not about the Presidential election.

The rating companies have spoken -- cut the deficit which should be what is happening today. Simple and straight forward -- no gimmicks just cut the deficit.

There is a lot of blame to go around which most people negotiating understand but the "I Won" mentality is not going to work and an unwillingness to do a short term fix with real deficit reduction sits right at the feet of the man who occupies the White House. This needs to come to a head shortly not be pushed until after the election.

When you negotiate, you don't change the rules in the middle of the game which "I Won" did and poisoned the negotiations.  Now that he has been kicked to the sideline we will see progress?  Who knows with the threat of veto hanging over the meetings.  The President needs to take his temper and his attacks on Republicans and chill as he is adding nothing to the debate.

We all need to pray for America and that our leaders to do what is right in the next week!  Is this President so stubborn that he will risk the credit rating of the United States?  We will have the answer shortly.
