"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men
from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

Alex Sink wrote letters granting consent to convicted criminals to sell insurance -- Sink's Campaign Lies to Tampa Tribune

UPDATE, 10:00 a.m., Nov 12, 2010: While researching, received a follow-up email and discovered her campaign spokesman now has lied to the Tampa Tribune when Sink's office was caught giving out letters to felons for them to sell insurance. What next out of Alex Sink, the Chief Financial Officer of Florida? She was a bad choice for CFO in 2006 and would be a much worse choice for Governor.

Alex Sink following the lead of McCollum now attacks Rick Scott about the Columbia/HCA scandal when Scott was CEO back in the 90's. The facts of the scandal have been on line for months -- Rick Scott was not indicted and in fact parted ways with Columbia/HCA shortly after the Medicare billing scandal broke. Everything was settled with the Federal Government with huge paybacks to cover the billing fraud. Scott was not guilty of any criminal activity like Sink and McCollum want people to believe.  His biggest mistake may have been taking an honorable company he founded, Columbia, and merging it with HCA.

Beginning to make us wonder now if McCollum's attacks on Scott in the primary and now Sink and McCollum attacks in the general on Scott for something that happened in the mid 90's are aimed at Scott so that Sink, McCollum, and Crist can continue covering up their handling of Florida investments which lost $61.4B under their leadership at Florida's State Board of Administration (SBA). Are they afraid that Rick Scott as Governor will launch an investigation? Only thing that makes sense.

McCollum who has always claimed to be a conservative supporting an avowed liberal, Alex Sink, makes no sense otherwise.

UPDATE: Alex Sink’s Campaign Caught Lying to Tampa Tribune

Campaign Attempting To Cover-Up Criminal Consent Scandal

October 12, 2010

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - Under fire for issuing at least six letters of consent to convicted criminals to engage in the business of insurance, Alex Sink’s office today made the false claim that her office was “required” to grant consent to convicted felons if their civil rights have been restored or after a waiting period. From the Tampa Tribune yesterday:

Sink campaign spokesman Dan McLaughlin said state law requires that the prohibition be waived if an applicant has had his civil rights restored, or after a waiting period.

But Alex Sink’s own official CFO website, www.myfloridacfo.com, says exactly the opposite.

If the applicant has satisfied the waiting period, he/she must meet the following conditions, if applicable:

· Probation completed

· Full payment of any court ordered restitution

· Restoration of civil rights, if convicted

Note: Meeting the conditions above does not automatically guarantee the applicant will be granted licensure.

“It’s time for Alex Sink to come clean and tell Florida voters just how many convicted felons she authorized to work in the insurance industry,” said Scott spokesman Brian Burgess. “Lying to reporters is just further evidence that Alex Sink is trying to cover up this scandal. She needs to release all records relating to the convicted felons so that Floridians know the extent to which she has put their sensitive personal and financial information at risk.”

On at least six occasions, Alex Sink’s office issued written letters of consent to individuals arrested for and/or convicted of felonies, including theft, check fraud, forgery, and assault on a law enforcement officer.

The Scott campaign has called on Sink’s office to release all of the documents and written correspondence between convicted felons and Sink’s staff, explain why her office issued the consent letters to individuals convicted of serious crimes, and demanded that Alex Sink tell the public how many convicted felons she has issued written consent letters enabling them to engage in the insurance business in Florida.

Let's get this straight -- Alex Sink issued letters from her office as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to convicted criminals to sell insurance in Florida. These felons were convicted of Burglary, Theft, Fraud, and Assault for starters. We were against her election as Florida CFO as we didn't think an avowed liberal was the right fit. How can she allow felons convicted of something like fraud to sell insurance? She is giving them access to people's social security numbers which are required on insurance forms.

There are six instances that are documented but how many more. Just who you want in your home, someone is has been guilty of assault or burglary. Just when we think the details coming out of Sink as CFO cannot get worse they do. If she was elected Governor, how many felons will have their sentences commuted because they didn't deserve the sentence as their home life as a child caused them to commit the crimes? That seems to be the mantra of liberals and Sink is right up there with the liberal mindset.
Three Questions For Alex Sink About Criminals Selling Insurance

1. How many convicted criminals have received consent to sell insurance on your office letterhead?

2. Why did your office grant consent to multiple individuals convicted of financial crimes, such as check fraud, credit card fraud, and theft?

3. When will you release all letters written on your office letterhead on behalf of convicted criminals?

We don't expect to release one piece of paper even though she keeps pledging transparency just like Obama. Two peas in a pod who say one thing and do another.

Alex Sink wrote letters granting consent to convicted criminals to sell insurance

by Team Scott on October 11th, 2010

Burglary, Theft, Fraud, and Assault among some of the crimes committed

On Alex Sink’s own letterhead, and signed by her chief deputy, the Chief Financial Officer of the state of Florida wrote dozens of letters granting her consent for convicted criminals to sell insurance – exploiting a provision in state and federal laws designed to keep violent and dishonest criminals out of the financial services industry.

Florida state law provides grounds to deny an insurance license not just to convicted felons, but even to those who have committed misdemeanors:

626.611 Grounds for compulsory refusal, suspension, or revocation of agent’s, title agency’s, adjuster’s, customer representative’s, service representative’s, or managing general agent’s license or appointment.—The department shall deny an application for, suspend, revoke, or refuse to renew or continue the license or appointment of any applicant, agent, title agency, adjuster, customer representative, service representative, or managing general agent, and it shall suspend or revoke the eligibility to hold a license or appointment of any such person, if it finds that as to the applicant, licensee, or appointee any one or more of the following applicable grounds exist:

(7) Demonstrated lack of fitness or trustworthiness to engage in the business of insurance.

(14) Having been found guilty of or having pleaded guilty or nolo contendere to a felony or a crime punishable by imprisonment of 1 year or more under the law of the United States of America or of any state thereof or under the law of any other country which involves moral turpitude, without regard to whether a judgment of conviction has been entered by the court having jurisdiction of such cases.

Six of the letters issued by Alex Sink’s office granting her consent for convicted criminals to engage in the business of insurance can be downloaded here.

How many more are there?
The Scott campaign has six of the letters which you can read on line with personal information blacked out. Is this just the tip of the iceberg. One of these letters granted to felons is one too many in our opinion. She has unleashed these people selling insurance to unsuspecting Florida residents who want to buy insurance. We don't think selling insurance should be open to convicted felons with access to social security numbers EVER.
